20...9 handed...villian is unknown and it is his first hand..30 ish. He's wearing sandles so he may play higher limits.

Folded to me in SB and I raise KsJh, he calls.

AsQh8d...I bet he calls.

AsQh8dJc....What is my play?

Check call, not close. Not many worse hands to get value from. You even block a king-hi.

Maybe he was 'running' bad in the big game and feeling de-feet-ed?

Check call the turn.

I don't see how check and call isn't best.

You have a showdownable hand that doesn't beat much anymore that can call a bet, and you have 4 nut cards in the deck to buffer your equity. Comfortably check call.

Just an observation. I first noticed it while watching a hgher limit mix game a few years back. literally everone had sandals on. Since then I notice it to be a trend, especially amongst the regs.

I thought maybe the sandals thing meant that he’s Jesus and has an infinite bankroll which is why he plays high stakes. Being that it was Easter and all.

I would check/call.

Thanks OnTheRail15!

Most likely correct 99.9999999% of the time with whatever decision he argues as being optimal.

With that said, in blind vs blind though, doesn't situation ever come up where this would be a bet/call to induce bluffs or even bet/fold (I would never do bet/fold since I'm a calling station) once there are history between villain and HERO?

In the case for OP, vs and unknown, I would check/call turn almost always even with history since I'm just an ABC TAG.
