Re: Dumb Hand 20/40

In certain spots obviously itís correct to fold many more hands but I also think many people who make those assumptions underestimate how often their opponents bluff in certain spots.

Ok but that’s a different issue and other skills to work on, hand reading, player profiling, just plain ole paying more attention etc

Basically those are assumptions. GIGO.

No I play very exploitively. Being observant is fine but sometimes you donít see someone bluff in certain situations for long stretches but their strategy might still include too many bluffs because of sample size issues

Re: Dumb Hand 20/40

Which is exactly why it's so important to exploit exclusively near the margin with exceptions:

closing the action on any street, we may call and receive exploitive profit without fear of losing ev due to counter exploitation. The very fact that our our opponent has made an exploitable mistake indicates an immediate loss of value, which is gained by anyone still in the hand holding cards.

heads up on the river there is little to no room for counter exploitation in limit holdem, this isn't true in no limit.

The closer we are to being in a position of closing the action, the more exploitive profits we can acquire.

The further we are from closing the action, the less we can exploit.

Yes but it is more than one session. You obviously have played an immense number of hands and have great card sense. Iím sure there are spots against certain players where you just know you are no good. Anyhow I think that clouds the issue.

Back to the hand we are against a player stuck and steaming and another player
just called him. Donít we 3 bet and take the approximate 50% equity pre? Iíve found in my experience guys stuck sometimes play silly monkey poker postflop. Itís been discussed in this thread that this is a call due to GTO? I would disagree with that.

If you read through the thread 3b has been proven the optimal play.

Read through awhile ago but did not memorize it all, but it needed to be proven?

Anyhow the OP in actual hand did just call.

Nope. Check folded the turn.

I agree that c/c is the play on the flop for reasons stated. Iím still not sold on preflop.
