I open red KK UTG and a normal tag type guy cold calls UTG+1. Folds to BB, who 3bets. I 4bet and both of them call.

Flop JT2 all black. BB donks, I call, UTG+1 calls.
Turn 2 completing the flush. BB leads, I call.

I just go ahead and raise the flop and call down from there. If turn turn was a red 2, were you going to raise?

Tough hand.

I would normally raise the flop but I don’t think there’s a big difference between calling and raising. The biggest upside with a raise is UTG+1 might fold a hand like black Sevens. If you raise the flop and BB reraises unless he’s a total maniac the only hand you can beat is Queens.

I’m not sure about the turn but I think either raising or folding might be the best play.

That was basically my thinking. He led into two players after I raised UTG and capped pre, and I lose to every big pocket pair other than QQ, so I’m not thrilled about the strength of my hand. If it were heads up I would just call down and bet if checked to, but the third player complicates that a bit.

Is it really normal nowadays for a "tag type guy" to cold call UTG+1 or is this just a Commerce thing?

Dude is a middle eastern 50-something regular who doesn’t open limp, rarely coldcalls, is somewhat positionally aware, and plays decent postflop. He is not a TAG by 2+2 standards but he’s a TAG by Commerce standards for sure.

I see everything at the Commerce. There are games where they open limp and cold call a fair amount of time. I was playing last Saturday and two players were routinely open limping in early position at a 60 game. Of course I couldn’t beat the game. Lol.
