I tried the SB limp strat, but realized it wasn't worth it as I wasn't gaining much with the bottom of my range, missing value with the top, and playing the middle of my range much worse postflop.

Right, and I still think it’s correct. At that time i was also doing it in 1/2 structures but I have since stopped.

I’m pretty confident that open completing in a 2/4 structure is a dominated strategy. Raise or fold is much better.

I also didn't care for the limp strategy when I tried it years ago.

Live it seems like a big leak to not raise especially. Players don't handle 'short handed aggression' there well at all.

Assuming a comptent opponent in B.B., what percentage can you open profitably? 60?

The one good thing about the open complete strat was that it made regulars uncomfortable from the BB because they hadn't constructed a good strategy yet. Of course, it would only be a matter of time before they just realized "hey I should raise like 40% of the time here and smash this guy".

2/3 it has some merit, but I'd still prefer raise or fold if there's any semblance of preflop fold equity.
