Mediocre 40/80 game. I am stuck, I am not playing my A game, and my image is terrible.

One bad player limps in late position and I raise AA on the button. The SB (older asian regular who plays OK) 3bets the SB and an unknown player cold calls the BB. Limper calls, I cap, everyone calls.

Flop AA2. It is checked to me. I bet (and figured I should bet pretty close to 100% here) but someone I respect a lot suggested that this a clear check back, particularly since I have all of the aces locked up. What say you all, 2+2?

Bet and it’s not close.

With the jackpot if they have pocket Tens + they will call the flop and turn.

If you check what card are you hoping for on turn to produce action?

Huh? What kind of jackpot hits when someone loses with two pair?

Any card that matches a card in another player's hand?

I guess you're still going to get action on the flop if the guy who three-bet has KK or QQ, or if the limper has 22, but I'm still thinking that slow playing is usually going to win you more here.

If villains have pocket Tens+ they will wrongfully assume hero has a big Ace and call flop and turn hoping for another Ace and thus hit the jackpot. The jackpot at the Bike is 100k.

Right, I suspect that if someone has TT+ they are going to call one bet per street the whole way barring some weird runout. The question seems to be whether we do better by letting someone with unpaired high cards make a pair or, alternatively, letting the SB bet into the field on the turn with what he thinks is the best two pair.

They really have a 100k jackpot which is that easy to hit?

Yeah you have the deck crippled, I would check.

It would be different potentially if it is AAQ

It’s aces full of tens beaten by quads or better with both hole cards playing in each hand. That’s pretty standard for casinos in Southern California and it creates weird dynamics on AAx flops, particularly in 3 or 4 bet pots.

I have played in some rooms with that as jackpot qualifier but they were much smaller.

Right; they stopped having a $5K jackpot for that situation because it hit so often, but OP says the same situation pays $100K. It just doesn't add up.

Some places do have a small jackpot and a super jackpot, for which something like quad 8s or better has to be beat, and each player has to either have a pocket pair or be playing both hole cards for a straight flush.

Still though, I'm sure he's right that people make non-standard calls when they are hoping to hit a jackpot. That's never influenced my decisions, but then I've also never hit a jackpot.

Commerce $100k jackpot

60k to pocket Fours, 20k pocket Sixes, 20k table share.

Pocket Jacks flopped nut full house. There wasn’t any betting until the river.

It’s 100k for 20/40, 40/80, and 60/120 only. It’s 50k for 5/5 and 5/10 NL and 40k for all of the smaller games. I’m sure the rake more than pays for it.

Jesus christ what is the rake? My place takes 4 +2 promo at $30. Do they have HH promos or just the Bad beat?

Quad over quads is 10k fixed, plus they have a lot of HH promos. I have gotten back about $6/hr from the promos over 1k hours of 4/8. Probably paying about 7/hr to the fund.( 30 hands/hr, 8 handed, $2 per hand roughly, 60/8 not counting short handed time, $7/hr roughly.)

Never hit a jackpot or been at a table with one.

Rake is either 6+1 or 7+1 with $1 if there is no flop. It's also a big room that usually has 20+ tables running at a time. There's a $300 HH promo that goes every 2 hours.

Again, I don't know the economics and don't disagree that it is both larger and easier to hit than many jackpots. But it's weird for folks who don't play at this cardroom to claim that it "doesn't add up" simply because it doesn't track with their experience.

Same game. AAAAK>AAAQQ. 4 bets pre, but no one raised at any point after the flop came out.

Seems like that would be happening all the time. How much is the Commerce jackpot?

In a lot of places that wouldn't even be a qualifying winning hand, because the kicker was counterfeited by the K on the board.

Commerce was 100k. They took it down to 50k, which precipitated a mass exodus of LHE games to Bike.

On the topic of jackpots, the ultimate Texas Hold’em game hit the 1m+ jackpot (diamond royal on the board off the $1 side bet) and then unrelated saw the 60 Holdem game hit the bad beat jackpot a couple days later.
