I thought this hand was pretty standard but someone at the table didn't like my turn bet.
20/40
UTG raises. He is sticky, sometimes too much, but pretty solid and can get pretty aggro at times but is definitely better than me. I raise AcKs next to act. Folds to the BB who calls. He is awful. I've been at the table for like 20 minutes and he's played nearly every hand to the river and shown no winners.
Flop comes Tc4c3h
Checks to me and I bet having the best two overs, backdoor flush and broadway plus a reasonable chance of having the best hand. Both call and I'm pretty confident no one has a ten as UTG would definitely x/r one.
Turn is Jd and it checks to me again. I bet.
My thinking here is even if the worst happens and I get x/r, at least I'm not dead and sometimes I can steal some pots and hell, it's not even for sure I'm behind. Someone at the table thought this wasn't a good bet. Thoughts?
Think you can choose to bet turn as a value bet vs 2 weak ranges.
However, checking turn is an option based on your reads on UTG aggro tendencies.
If UTG is willing to raise a balanced range of combo draws, two pair+, medium value hands (can't think of any on this board), then may be fine to check at some frequency
I like how you played it for the reasons you desciribed. And if someone CRs the turn, you can confidently fold the river. No one has shown any interest in this pot, you have outs, AK may be good here, checking makes you guess on the river, etc.
