Saturdays almost exclusively. Pretty reliable if you show up in the morning. Doesn't run a lot of hours but depending on lineup it occasionally lasts into the night.

Has it been easy to get seat at Commerce 20/40+ recently?

I'll slum via NL while waiting but may visit Sep 30 Fri > Oct 3 Mon to meet with friends in LA.

Thanks DonJuan & Dr. Elo! Hopefully eco system put my 20k to either of your pockets
The are no HUHU tables for years in Bovada

LHE in LA is still going strong! Big games have moved from the Bike to the commerce. Usually no problem getting into a game. Also stil 20/40 at the gardens (super soft) and 25/50 at the hustler. The bike is on poker atlas haven’t been back there since the big games migrated to the commerce. High limit (20/40+) at the Commerce is once again back by the Hotel. They redid that area recently and it is super nice!

The games moved back to Commerce again? I thought it was just two years ago or so that they went to the Bicycle. Any particular reason for the move? I wouldn't think a remodeled room would be that important.

People who are losing would rather lose in a nicer ambience generally so the games will always migrate wherever those players go.

It moved back to commerce because those were always commerce regs anyway, and they only moved because the management fumbled the bag and wasn’t offering high limit games when they opened back up.

Commerce wasn't offering high limit games at some point? Were they limited to fewer tables and chose to offer the lower limits?

It has been five years or so since I've played in LA, but at that time there were 20/40 games at several places, including both Commerce and Bicycle. Are there no red chip games at all at Bicycle now? I always preferred it to Commerce even before the remodel.

There still is 20/40 and 40/80 there but it’s not nearly as many tables as it was pre-pandemic or even early on in the pandemic.

And yes, you have it right. They only offered 8/16 and lower for limit until a few months after they opened up, and even then it was just 20/40 for a solid month or two. The 40/80 was almost exclusively at the bike for a year, and the 20/40 at commerce wasn’t even running every day. They then hired a lot of people to pump up the 20/40 and eventually the 40/80 and 60/120, but those games actually are still consistently running at the bike as well.

Both places are getting action but the action has been way better at commerce for 20. Some of the old bike regs now play 40 and they got rid of props (some of which were just terrible players), so that is also responsible for less games.

There was also some meta promotion stuff going on with commerce announcing a bunch of promotions and bike trying to match them but commerce always one upping them. That happened just recently.

Great to hear Commerce promos being matched with Bike.

Think Commerce is best LHE per my live poker experiences sans live games (ex: Sean Snyder, one Ninefingershuffle plays on Mon & Sat mix )

OT: I've never played at Bike, etc in LA or played in SD, Colorado

Played some PLO with TT this weekend.
Very interesting guy.
We discussed MikeL, Skalansky’s brilliance and Pope’s big plo game in AZ.

4 tables of 60 on saturday night at commerce. I was playing the 20 (5 tables at max). I think 3 tables of 40. Lot of limit action

Wow, I think when I was there 5 years ago or so there were no more than one game going that big or bigger, and I don't think there were in LA rooms either. It wasn't likely a Saturday night, but that is really something. Is LHE making a big comeback?
10-03-2022 , 04:55 AM
I would say so, a lot of players I hadn’t seen for awhile playing, as well as some newish players (most likely old players that came back). Some players moved up from 20 to 40 and 40 to 60. I usually play the weekends and the games have been phenomenal.

Walked out with five racks last night which was lovely. Lots of big hands that held up for a change.

Think my favorite one was on a kill pot. 4 people limp to the kill who checks, good player raises next in the CO, I three bet red TT in the BB and it goes off 7 ways.

Flop is Tc9c6x and I bet/3bet the CO and everyone stays in.

Turn is 7x. I bet and two people drop.

River is Kx and I check (mistake), CO bets, I just call (another mistake), and the kill ends up folding K6 (a mistake to call the turn)

Aww, I'd like to meet TT some day.

The opposite here in NJ/PA, kinda. With one exception, all the limit games have been dying or drying up at Borgata and Parx over the last year... the exception being the 40 game at Parx, which now goes 2-3 days a week and routinely gets 3 tables on tuesdays. Borgata used to have 2-3+ games of 10 and 20 going, but last time I was there it was 1-2, and down to a single 20 game overnight on weekends.

The 15 game at Parx is seemingly now dead. Hasn't gone off for 4-6 weeks, except for once when it broke within an hour (or so I am told).

On the positive side, I started getting a few room comps at Borgata, so I'll be back down there a few times in the next couple months. We'll see if that scene picks up any.

Please report back later and let us know how the LHE is doing in AC.

Congratulations on running normal!

OT: Kill with K6o mandatory to donate way more to Ninefingershuffle on river

80 HO game came and left the Bike awfully quick. Seems like it’s back at the Commerce which is a shame. Cashier lines are long and the floor is quite packed during the remodel.

I also prefer the Poker Atlas app over the Bravo app. Bummer.

My condolences.

FYI I'm sure Commerce HO is epic if running 80 ninefingershuffle

OT: I may come to Vegas Dec 08 Thu for friend bday > play 20/40+ until 6am (0 sleep coffee only) > Flight home

First data point: I was at Borgata Friday. Arrived at 2pm, got put into a second game at 20-40, with a single 10-20 running too. Looked promising. But that game broke within an hour or so. 2 hour wait before I made it to 10-20 game, then another hour before I got back to main 20-40. Eh, such is life.

But then 20-40 broke at 2am, which was very unexpected (by me, anyway). We were playing with 5-6 for the last hour+ as well. I went to bed, but the 10-20 was still going with 4 people. Possibly 1-2 people from the 20 game went over there, not sure.

Sat morning I arrived 11am or so, and got the last seat on the 20 game, which had restarted at some point earlier (obviously). I left just after lunch. Not sure how Sat night went.

All told, now that Parx 15-30 is dead, I'm glad to be able to play 20 at Borgata, but it's less convenient (and will only last as long as they give me a room, which doesn't look super promising either, but we'll see).

What room comps did you get? If you got some for the weekend that is great.
11-10-2022 , 02:24 AM
I got Fri night comped last week, and another Friday night comped later this month. Then 2 Fri/Sat night weekends in Dec. They all came available one day when I happened to check.

Then back to nothing. Possibly because I had/have multiple future weekends booked now. But given how bad it has been (and continues to be for other players), I'm not holding my breath. If they give me weekend rooms, I will come. If not, I won't. (They were intermittently giving me weekday rooms, but I have a job so those are useless to me.) Easy peasy.
