Plus tips and drinks...

Unless the bbj is super easy to hit and coming back fast, seems like a waste for anything more than fun/winning small. $350 an hour is an insane number to overcome.

It also matters with structure of the drop. Here in the 30/60, it folds to the small blind who completes. BB knuckles, and the whole 5+2 is dropped. Same if the BB is stolen. If the 20/40 has a Vegas-like requirement of a 7BB or 8BB pot to reach full rake, it could be better. Still, it is a high rake game.

I can understand the mistake since the BB has never been stolen in the history of black hawk, but i'm 99% sure there's no drop if everyone folds to a single raise preflop (unless there's a new rule).

I'm probably wrong. As you say, it is a low probability occurrence. Has been a while since I've been up. I thought I recalled putting in a raise and hearing the clack of the drop. Maybe it was a 3 bet.

It would be interesting that a $30 limp makes a $75 pot and max rake, but that sliding in $60 gives you the opportunity to play rake free. A small one, but...

Colorado voted to allow local municipalities to set limits, so the residents of Black Hawk and the other tiny towns that have casinos will all vote to allow much larger if not unlimited betting (no more $100 max bet).

RIP to one the best midstakes LHE games in the US

i know you guys voted to kill my job just to spite me, so i'm going to learn to crush PLO and come take everyone's money

We voted to maximize your gambool. Whether or not you can still do your job? That's on you. Maybe the game just goes to 300/600 with a button straddle?
11-06-2020 , 12:39 PM
Is there still a cap? AZ has gone from 150 to 500 to 600 cap.
11-06-2020 , 01:35 PM
Only as set by the local municipality. Think people are assuming there will be no cap. It goes without saying, but I'll say it. If anyone in the scene disagrees with me, trust them more. I voted for the expanded limits, but other than that...

My PLO skillz are pretty limited and I find the game a bit frustrating, whenever the $$$ go in the equities are usually pretty close. Stinkpete, you'd better get here soon after the fine people of Black Hawk vote to increase the limits (no idea when that will be though) as PLO just crushes the bad players and they'll go broke fast

If I was a BH resident I'd vote no cap, there's no real incentive there to have one. But as LHE player I voted against this, sheep shearing v skinning and all that...

(Also, politically this was a total scam organized by the casino industry, why would the residents of Colorado who voted to allow casino gambling then let only the residents of the few towns in which casinos are permitted set the rules? The answer of course is that if they asked all the people in CO for unlimited gambling they'd probably say no)

yeah, i expect the result to be that poker largely dies in black hawk after a few months of big gamboool. weekdays will have like 1/2 NL only and weekends might still have a 30/60 or maybe even a bigger limit game but it just won't be as good as it used to be. and the dealers are going to be shocked that taking betting limits off actually cuts their income by half, when it was the most obvious outcome ever.

Does it have to be a referendum of the voters, or will the passage of an ordinance by a city council or county board of supervisors suffice?

Albuquerque used to have amazing LHE games. NL killed them, by being amazing for a while. Then those games died, as well.

I play LHE to protect the recreational players.

Does prisoners dilemma still apply if the prisoners are allowed to collude?

Best wishes to those of you who have recently lost your local poker rooms to covid. Black Hawk, Canterbury, and now California have all temporarily closed in the past few weeks. Let's hope the vaccines bring live LHE back strong.

I was at my local casino for the first time since Feb to pick up some takeout to use up my comps before they expire and walked through the poker room. Didn't look fun.
