Most .05/.10 Blitz poker regs watch Run It Once videos and use solvers.

If so, they aren't using the solvers well, and are learning the wrong things from the videos.

I mean ya, they suck compared to 500 Zoom crushers. It's just super gross that .05/.10 Blitz regs even have a clue. So many of them open for .22, 3bet OOP for 4x, 4bet IP for just a little over 2x, know when to bet range on the flop for 1/4-1/3 pot, know when to make reasonable turn and river overbets, etc.

I just expect microstakes NL to be full of recreational players and tight players who are in the earliest stages of learning the game.

My dream would be to spend half my time grinding 200 and 500 Zoom in Vancouver and the other half grinding LHE in Cali once covid clears up. Oh well. I guess 1 out of 2 ain't bad!

Thanks Unguarded! Looking forward to meeting you at Commerce one day . Additionally, thank you for info on NL. Made me thankful plan on focusing on trying to learn mix variants. Goal is 15 game mix non HORSE 100/200 post Qurantine at Hammonds, Indiana Horseshoe

Maka, please play NL and mixed games way better than I do when the time comes. I have wasted so much time on PLO, NL, and mixed games. But I have never made it beyond regfish status. I feel like the best LHE players were among the strongest in the world until 2014-2015 when the quality of play among big bet players just shot through the roof. Mixed game players still probably suck, but I just happen to suck even more.

Regardless of what one thinks of his performance as POTUS, Donald Trump can make poker great again. Any game he plays would be the best game in the room. He would be a tilting spewtard who constantly sneaks more money onto the table so it looks like he's winning, all while blowing his brains and putting stinky beats on everyone with the trash he's in big pots with. He'd have the whole table tilted in 30 minutes. It would be incredible.

For those of you mid-high players who are even more out of the loop than I am... Bellagio, Commerce, Bicycle, Gardens, and Hustler are all reopening their poker rooms in the next couple days. And Ameristar Black Hawk is partially reopening, but not poker yet.

I will definitely be waiting for covid to clear up, but it certainly relieves some anxiety to see live LHE coming back. Best wishes to those of you brave enough to return to the tables ASAP!

I'm curious as to whether the 30 games goes at Ameristar, in any form that would make it worth the drive, paying that $7 rake. The behind the scenes stuff that moved the game there from the Lodge was a comedy of errors. Do people just go back to the 'Star because that's where they go? Maybe all the pros left and the game will be even better? This all ignores the elephant in the room.

Sounds like CU students on the hill mixed youthful immortality and house parties to have a little flare up, in our county that had everything pretty much under control with a really low case rate. Sadly, bad behavior may well be punished.

Degens gonna degen...

In all seriousness, the idea of playing poker with a mask and/or plexiglass doesnt sound appealing to me. But I have a job and am not losing online so I'm in no rush to get back. There are plenty of players who have not been making money online and will want to go back to the perceived comfort of live. When that happens the liquidity providers (pros) will return and game on. I know no pros that have went and got a job since the pandemic started.

Monarch's new room would have a chance to take the game. No one thinks ameristar was doing such a great job. Obviously this is their chance right now.

I had some chips and went to cash then in yesterday (left again right away). The slot players couldnt wait to stand in line and get their temps checked...ameristar still has the poker tables in position.

Meanwhile in AZ...

Yesterday

Open about a month...

https://www.azcentral.com/story/news...ys/3203021001/

Quote:
A month ago, Robert Washington returned to his job as a security guard at Lone Butte Casino for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Last week, Washington, 68, of Chandler, died in a hospital intensive care unit from complications related to COVID-19, according to his daughter.

Leaders at Gila River Hotels & Casinos have not responded to The Arizona Republic's repeated requests to confirm the number of employees who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Today
All Gila River casinos shut down for 2 weeks probably due to this news:

I went to both Gila River and Casino AZ just to cash in some free money in the last 2 weeks. Gila River only has recommended spacing and altered table games and slot distancing.

Casino AZ had temperature check at entrance and required masks. Clearly CAZ is trying harder.

I am not a doctor, but I was in Hong Kong during bird flu...

Love that they're trying. The temperature checks seem whatevs to me. Guessing that if you're sick enough to have a fever, you've been spreading virus for days. Maybe you catch a few huge *******s who come to the casino with raving fevers?

Latest info is that if everyone has a mask, you dramatically reduce transmission. What a smh moment that the political party in control of executive branch, has their epidemiologist come out and say "yes, wear masks. They save lives." At the same time their politicians say, "don't wear masks, it is scare mongering." Strangely enough, I see people re-posting the OKC mayor, who is like 100% "this is what current science is recommending, do that." How does public safety become a signaling issue for your politics team?

Thanks for the update. I hadn't been going up much, before all this. With you. Not needing that game for additional income. Doesn't seem fun or worth it. I really feel for actual poker pros who have to do real life math on it. You have to depend on the person next to you not to do something stupid, to avoid risking your life (or the lives of vulnerable people you have in your life). At the same time, you want him as stupid as possible to lose many $100 turn bets to you when he can't win. Does such a health careful, poker dreadful unicorn exist?

I think the current numbers are, if I give it to my mom, she has a coin flip on surviving it. Not really wanting to take a pull at those odds.
06-18-2020 , 03:48 PM
It's starting.

Bellagio reopen with 6 handed games + plexi glass

Bike / Commerce reopening tomorrow. 8 handed + masks required
06-18-2020 , 04:31 PM
But for how long...
06-19-2020 , 02:48 PM
masks are a no brainer.
and if it takes a casino rule to encourage wearing them so be it.
although I personally think it should as second nature now until they have a vaccine as putting on clothes before walking into the room.
but as they say you cant fix stupid
06-19-2020 , 03:51 PM
I personally found the following quote shocking:

"In L.A., there’s no denying the gaming venues are vital to local economies. In Bell Gardens, revenue generated by the Bicycle accounts for 46 percent of the city’s general fund, while the Gardens Casino in Hawaiian Gardens covers about two-thirds of that municipality’s general fund."

The entire article from a few weeks ago if interested:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cas...ning-date/amp/

If that quote it accurate, closing the LA card rooms was pretty catastrophic to the local communities.

Thank you Unguarded!

Hope to play vs you at Commerce post Vaccine found if you're willing to 20/40 to 60/120 LHE

PS: 1st round of drinks on me & I'll guarantee to not dump & run after 1 drink

Ok, I was one of the brave idiots that went to play at Commerce Casino.

It's honestly not so bad. Mandatory masks, plexiglass, sanitizers in convenient places. Honestly the plexiglass is probably good, because now no one has to worry about someone not being in their place now.

However, it was distracting to play with face masks, makes you feel like you're in a surreal absurdist movie of gambling addicts fiddling with the cards as the world ends.

Safety: B
Fun: C
Atmosphere: D
Regulations: A+

So I would rate the overall experience a solid B-
06-29-2020 , 12:26 PM
Would rate that as better than expected. Would still stay home, while respecting your degeneracy.
06-29-2020 , 01:55 PM
I'm still trying to get a read on how the masks impact luck. Any early indications from Commerce? When a new set up is called for is the pro move to also change masks?

Fun=C, Atmosphere=D but Overall=B-???

I don’t understand this scoring system...

Also, does Commerce ever score above B- overall?

Glad you enjoyed it, doesn’t appear poker is coming back in Black Hawk anytime soon, casinos are still slots only

When you describe it like this, it makes playing with masks sound like a lot of fun to me! Thank you for the report.

On Bravo, it looks to me like there is rarely more than 1 40/80-60/120 game going outside of prime time on Friday/Saturday. And at odd hours, there may not even be a 20/40-60/120 game going at all.

Part of me wants to jump in since I love live shorthanded play so much. But I just need to see the covid cases drop back down to something reasonable before I risk it. I get sick about half the time I travel to a casino even when we're not in the middle of a pandemic.

LOL no, but the shitregs still ask for setups when they're losing though.

I gave them extra points for all the safety regulations, which is the opposite of what it normally is. Normally it's fun but absolutely disgusting. They even got new chairs, man.

No problem. Bike seems like it's recovering a bit better, but I think they are going to be adding more dealers back. The problem is that they don't have enough dealers to open games speculatively, but I was told they still have two more phases that they are targeting for their reopening.

For an expert quantph, you probably won't find Commerce enjoyable vs available options in Colorado

Commerce has always been A to A+ for me based on low % losing trip with 1 night of epic nuts heater via HUHU to 3-4 handed Grave hours.

Both trips were during LAPC (2009? + 2020) so might have been outlier
