NL is a all about game selection and the time you play. A typical 1/3 game on a Friday night is going to be miles better than a 1/3 game on a Tuesday afternoon. I still think that LHE is a more action driven game but given u can survive at NL with a 50 buyin bankroll with little to no risk of going broke is a lot easier grinding out 30 an hour than needing a 1000BB bankroll for 20/40 with roughly the same winrate. And as mentioned before you can have huge scores in NL without risking almost anything.

If you need a 1000BB bankroll for 20/40, the game just isn't good or you're really bad at poker

Maybe he's doing something more productive than grinding poker with his time but doesn't mind picking up a few free dollars here and there when it's given away.

I think you may not be giving him quite enough credit... are you sure he doesn't also super bumhunt 3-6 handed games? I haven't played there in a long time, but there def used to be some rec players who were much worse than 8sup who popped in here and there. He may be leaving if he misses the Jesus seat on a rec player who isn't too bad. But I would expect him to stay in games with decent position on a 70 VPIP type. I imagine he can still make okay money if he is doing this on every site.

And ya, he might also be doing something else semi-productive while he is waiting... sport betting, daily fantasy, stock market stuff, etc. Or just doing something fun like reading a book or binge watching a TV series or something.

I don't really mind these players as long as they aren't angle shooters.

I lost +120 BB to onthewire on ACR pretty sure I lost the most to him money wise beside peknet on stars. Surprise he quit everyone now. Was definitely willing to play me.
