One of the biggest mistakes in those wild games is to put in money where you aren't committed. It is amazing to see UTG +1 call a flop bet from the BB with 5 players behind and then fold to a cap in a game where 70% of the time the flop will cap. How could you call that, intending to fold to a raise when the fact that you called induces the raise? You'd see this from the trying to play good weaker regs and the tourists. Put in 5 small bets preflop and flop, and then fold enough equity to call the flop bet? That has to be lighting money on fire. Invariably, that guy would complain about the crazies, moan about his bad luck, and predict that everyone else at the table would soon be busto.
Last session I was 1 for 5 with AA with four of those being capped 7 way preflop. You just have to be patient and willing to gamble with good multi-way habds

man what is with the 15 and 30 player pools on ignition? 3 and 4handed tables with everyone sitting out? i don't even think it's scetchy, just weird. like the loss of chat function has completely destroyed player trust or something?
another weird thing is, every time i join a table with one guy, he just sits out and passes the btn. 2 years ago, that'd never fly. i'd be getting at least temporarily btn'ed 100%.
people just seem more upstanding now, but more weary...

I jump into the 15 and 30 on Bovada every so often and get sick of the sitting out pretty quick. Some pretty decent games get going now and again, but mostly I get heads up action for about 30 hands before the other player sits out and then I end up at a table with three people sitting out for hours.

Another Bovada mystery: while playing, people regularly join the table with a min-buy and sitout and until picked up and then do it over and over again. Are they data mining? Observing? What's the point?

Based on what I was typing, I think I thought we were playing hi/lo and that I didn't know I had a 3, just bare aces, which is why I was calling for the 4th 3 even though it was in my hand. Since the timestamp is from midnight, I was probably drinking.
02-22-2019 , 10:30 AM
Playing .01/.02 PLO at midnight?

Definitely drunk. Thanks for posting.

I'm in San Fran for the weekend. If I want mid-limit (20/40, 40/80) is it best to go to Lucky Chances or Artichoke Joe's on a sunday?
02-23-2019 , 09:06 PM
bay 101 or maybe oaks

Thanks, so you're saying not worth going to either lucky chances or joes?
02-23-2019 , 09:34 PM
i just checked with someone in the know (active bay area lhe grinder) and he replied:

"Artichoke joes has 20/40

Lucky chances I heard spread 20/40 sometimes (rarely) when artichoke players coordinate it there

Bay 101 is 20, 30 half kill, 80

Oaks is 30

Thats all

Artichoke joes is 6+2 rake tho so it’s a lil steep"
02-23-2019 , 09:35 PM
so i was wrong about joes - my bad. i believe cal grand has 15/30 too
02-24-2019 , 01:47 PM
Woohoo! Just found 3 purple chips randomly in a drawer. I 'lost' them in Sept/Oct, but wasn't sure that I even had them because alcohol.

Hmmmm...40 game running for three straight days. Longest that I can recall for straight Holdem. Game was very good today, so maybe this will stick.

Can confirm that the game went again today and that the lineup was much better than yesterday.

He's been playing the game the last few times I was in. Games have been surprisingly good. I dumped a little last night via super standard card deadness. It would be really fun if this game goes more regularly. Lineups are sooo much better than the Mix game and it makes the 20 game that much softer too. Fun times!
03-01-2019 , 11:25 AM
It's been a really long time since it was regular.

Keep it going so I can sneak into the 20 without getting slaughtered.
03-01-2019 , 01:42 PM
I think it actually makes the 20 game slightly worse. Yes it pulls a couple pros out of the 20 game to play 40 because they don’t play mix. But it also pulls 4-5 of the the most critical “spots” out of the 20 game as well. The net result (at least for the day game) is a good 40 game and a slightly worse 20 game. But all that said, I think it is a positive for the room if they can keep it going (presuming that the “spots” don’t get scared off by losing twice as fast). I’m actually surprised that it was rekindled in the middle of construction and not after. I chalk it up to 1) the guys visiting from Iowa and 2) a few of the mix players wanting to have a fall back given that the mix is kinda dying.
