re: 2019 HI CONTENT

People have been saying that Omaha was the game of the future for over thirty years. I guess the future is finally here.

re: 2019 HI CONTENT

You guys are spot on as usual on multiple points. PLO is fun but super swingy and plays deceptively big. I taught myself to play last year with a lot of reading and micro stakes online play. Much easier to deal with the swings online, but the players are much better. I still tend to overvalue weak made hands and undervalue huge draws, it that is just the LHE player in me.

On this hand, I actually shoved faster than I expected. I had a fleeting though that I had to be beat and could fold, but I quickly talked myself into at least calling. And then as someone mentioned, I thought that I wouldn’t have enough left to justify folding the river so I just shoved. Actually the conversation in my head went something like “ok if you aren’t getting it in here then what the hell have you been sitting here for six hours for - if you fold you should just go home”.

So I shove and both guys just call with like $100-200 behind. Button had naked TT and BB had something like 865ccc (so he did have a wrap of sorts but the fact that so many clubs were dead seemed pretty gross).

It's hard to have a naked TT when there are so many potential straight draws out there and you get 3 more cards! Was it like TT222?

I actually donít remember if he showed the rest of his hand but you are right - he probably had some sort of straight draw as well unless he had something like TT 88x

He didn't show the rest of his cards? Sounds like good news for hero?

This thread is for low content, I'm allowed to be results oriented.
I wasn't giving advice either way though, don't know enough about this game, I'm just happy for hero.

re: 2019 HI CONTENT

kind of an interesting hand cuz you block the good sets but if BTN actually has the good set you are pretty screwed cuz BB's range blocks your outs a decent chunk of the time

i think with your exact holding you should prob be getting it in on the flop cuz there are more combos of straight-flushy things by BTN (which you smoke and are happy to GII against... 60/40 vs Jc9c8h7s6h for example). but if you had like the AcJc maybe the best route is passive and continue check calling cuz u are more likely looking at the limited combos of sets. the equity calcs dont look great against TT*** and J98/865 sometimes w clubs esque hands. also u picked up some outs on that particular turn (ur looking at like 30% threeways against TT*** and J98** but 22% against TT*** and 8c6c5c2hAh). so yeah in this exact spot i'd rr flop as played but turn id just check call.

another random small thing, if river comes straightening and bb somehow checks it prolly means he has the wrap that didnt hit the river (ie 865 and river is a jack) so u could theoretically bluff shove straighter rivers when checked to. TT*** is getting good pot odds but they prob overfold and BB checking prob means they have zilch anyways.

I don't get the Omaha Craze. Maybe it's just Pot Limit that's fun. Regular Omaha is boring as........K!

I've been playing more so I can start posting in the LC/NC thread.

If omaha is boring, then what is holdem?

NLHE is the most boring game invented. Which means I am probably not playing it right but whatever.

Any split pot limit Omaha game is second.

PLO is a blast but not as fun or engaging as LHE imo.

100% agree NLHE is the worst.

PLO is awesome.

re: 2019 HI CONTENT

I meditate every day, which essentially is sitting for half an hour and doing nothing but breathing. Two or three years back, I had the realization that being good at meditating meant that I never had to be bored again, that being bored was a choice, because no matter what situation I was in, I essentially always had the alternate choice sitting and doing nothing but breathing, and that wasn't boring.

By coincidence I am now a NLHE specialist.

Meditation sounds boring though. Didn't think being good at something means it's not boring. I'm pretty good at tic tac toe but it's still a boring game.

I think you missed the point there, Rob.

Iíve been trying to incorporate mediation into my everyday life for about a year now.

I was being silly, but also wondering how meditation would prevent one from being bored, especially at the poker table.

2019 NC/LC THREAD

Because if you meditate you can focus on your breathing and being mindful when you are card dead or running bad or any time really. So I think the takeaway is that you donít have to be bored because you can always meditate.

Because if you literally sit and doing nothing as a "fun" activity, NLHE is only about as boring than that. You can do one, you can probably do the other.

You haven't experienced boring until you've played pineapple or super Razzdacey/Razzdeucey where every hand takes 5 minutes as every player stands up to look across the table at their opponents cards to see exactly how the randomly distributed up cards dictate how much action will occur.

Spoiler: there will be almost no action, but it will take everyone quite some time to figure it out as they all need to stare at the boards for more time than anyone should ever spend in a limit poker hand to figure out where they are between a lock and drawing way too thin to continue.

Not to mention the every hand ritual before 4th street. "WAIT!!! Did everyone discard?"
