hi everyone - I hope 2019 is a good year for you!
01-01-2019 , 03:28 AM
Happy New Year all!
01-01-2019 , 07:19 AM
I severely doubt this is a good year because of UIEGA, but happy new year!

I guess the answer to the question in last year's title is... nope.
01-02-2019 , 01:22 PM
We can always hope for this year, though.

All the best from the East Coast. May your draws always come in...except against me.

To quote an optimistic player who used to be in our game, "I prefer to get there on the river, that way none of you losers can suck out on me after I hit my hand."

Also, wonder if Quantph has updated his blog. Got to go check...

Lol, I've had a big update essentially completed for several days, just needs a bit of formatting. I'll try to get it done before I leave for Astar. As you correctly assumed, I've got a bit of time on my hands due to the federal government furlough. I describe this to everyone as a dick measuring contest between Trump and Pelosi, and Ann Coulter already called Trump out on his size, so here we are. Both sides need to be able to claim a win, and I'm sure however this gets resolved they both will do so.

I like how you casually crush the high stakes.

This is the only certainty. Hope it isn't impacting your life too negatively.

It was definitely an anomaly, biggest winning streak (bbs/hr) I’ve had in 5 years.

Furlough isn’t too bad yet, just bad for getting stuff done in the lab and bad for group morale. We had our last group meeting at Southern Sun, it helped a little

Anyone have any links to threads/discussions where players have discussed their winrates or what they think are acheivable winrates in live mid-high stakes?
01-07-2019 , 06:45 PM
Oh **** I forgot there was a new thread.

Great read! I like your goal oriented and disciplined approach! I need to get me some of that in 2019!

Apparently DC has no LHE bigger than 4-8 so I am going to need help from the PLO experts on this hand.

Game is typical low limit gong show. It is five card Omaha high and the blinds are 1/3, but it is $5 to call PF and you can open raise to $15 PF. Two guys at the table are min-buying for $200 and getting it in most hands. A couple other loose gamblers. Only one other guy who seems to have any sort of preflop hand selection, positional play, etc. I am playing overly tight because I don’t really know this game and have probably overfolded in some marginal spots. I bought in for $700, rebought once and start the hand with about $1400 after grinding my way back to even. No big spots though - all small pots isolating the min buy in guys with strong hands.

I’m a bit fuzzy on the PF action, but i do know that the two villains in the hand barely have me covered.

I have $1400 and BB and button cover

AQJT7 with AcQc in MP (no other suits).

$15, 6 ways PF.

Flop Tc7c4d

I bet $55, button raises $200, BB calls, I call.

Turn As. BB checks, I check, button bets $690. BB calls.

I?

don't fold. You have 13 outs to the nuts (non 4 clubs, 3 kings, 2 aces), and other outs to full houses that should be good. Button can't have AA unless it is AA44 or something. BB probably has some huge wrap with a flush draw.

Id just go all in, you don’t have enough left to fold any rivers
01-09-2019 , 06:37 PM
You've got enough hand to raise the flop rather than call. You have a hand that beats aces, blocks sets, draws to nut flush and full houses, devalues wraps, and freerolls just about all other T7. Just slide your chips in and let the dealer push back the excess (like $295 if my potmaths are right.)

jamming flop can't be bad, i'd think

edit: munga beat me to it. nice post sir

FWIW PLO is a lot of fun. Hudge. Swingy. But fun. I've mostly ground limit games until recently and nothing reminds me of 2006 like the 1/3 700max PLO in the nearby NH charity room.

Only PLO type game we have in AZ has 5/10 blinds with a $500 bet max. I've played it once and played scared.
