They probably promoted it. Sacratomato isn't exactly a 3 stoplight town, and the SF Bay area is only a 90 to 500 minute drive away, depending on traffic.

Zach was the only crusher in that 1/2 game and also had a great seat considering the two players to his right were horrendous. Erle played pretty well for a superlag. Also a lot of players were not going to showdown as much as I expected, is this typical of west coast games?

As someone forced to take two business trips to Fresno every year, can confirm poker players there won't even blink about driving three hours each way for a decent game (or decent anything, really - it's Fresno).

Curious if anyone knows or plays high limit mix games in LA or Vegas. Wondering what games are played, usual limits, and etiquette for picking the games.

I'd imagine the games are very draw heavy (TD, Badacey, Badeucey, Archie, Chinese) but I could be wrong.

I don't play in the high limit games, but pretty sure they don't mix in Chinese "Poker" with real poker games, at least in Vegas.

Does anyone know how Borgata Tier points work under the new M Life rewards system? I am 7500 points from next tier but have no idea how long that will take playing 20 and 40. Thanks

LA - prob wider selection of games/stakes/locations (including private games). Anything from 75 HOT to 2/4 BHT to 3/6 plo8, PL Big O, Archie, Badeucy, A-5 td. I heard biggest game was a PLO/2-7 td mix that was 1,500/3k in the fix limit portion, not sure in the PLO. Take it all w grain of salt, as I haven't played there in 2 years and never bigger than 1/2 so I'm going mostly by friends' info.

Vegas - generally more games in the mix ime; during non-wsop time there is a regular 80/160 that has stud h/l regular to badacey to NL 2-7 to PL Big O. I played a 1/2 fixed limit mix during wsop, but the locals that play the 80/160 choose the fix limit/big bet games pretty evenly. Again, this info is a year old. bobbys room has 4/8+ and I've no idea what's in those games. The Big Game can play from 1/2k to 4/8k and consists of 9-11 more standard games (no Archie, badeucy, badacey, or super stud 8), according to negreanu iirc. Everything is at Bellagio except for a 300/600 big bet mix at Aria that has games like PLO, Big O, PL 2-7 td, PL badugi, NL 2-7 sd etc.

Some posters know a lot more about this scene. My knowledge is limited, as I'm a tourist when playing in these games. Bc I never showed when games started, I never got any input into the mix. Maybe once I was able to request a game mid-session. But if you get there when they start, you should have some input. Big Bet games usually have a cap and limit holdem isn't always played. let us know how it goes gl

On Ignition:

What's up with the guy who keeps trying to challenge me to 30K HU?
Is he the same as the guy who keeps complaining that he's running 5K under EV?

30K as in Rounders? Mike McDermott.

Three stacks of high society.

Lol. It's really tilting to me that Ignition now has 2/4, 3/6, 8/16. Like why not just make it 4/8???

Is there lot of action on ignition ?
08-09-2017 , 07:09 PM

Just gotta diversify into O8, PLO, and possibly NL.

Thx all.

Hit and ran O8 last night for $6. Great success?

I've realized that the only way for me to win at Omaha is to win the first few hands then get called to another game before I give it back. Which generally happens in about two orbits. Which is because I don't actually know how to play Omaha.
08-11-2017 , 11:10 PM
You know how people in holdem like to make top pair and then bluff out the field? That won't win in Omaha. It is a drawing game. Win both ways.

O8 is more about knowing your equity that anything else.
08-12-2017 , 12:29 AM
Ya it's all about being able to have the nuts or draw to them.
08-12-2017 , 05:35 AM
o8 is not more about knowing your equity than anything else
