I visited in '15 and we got free food, but there was just a poker rate around $125 and no free hotel rooms or flhe manager. I visited in '16 and there was no free food in the high section and we paid an extra $1/hand in rake iirc. Like most rooms (online and live), Commerce has gradually decreased rewards for poker players over time I think.

I just stayed there and paid 240 a night for the IHG rewards rate. They told me poker rate was $300 lol.

****, any advice on getting accommodation besides airbnb?
10-13-2017 , 02:35 PM
If you are playing 60 or bigger just pay what they ask. Convenience worth way mkre. That was also got a 2 br so standard room may br closer to 180?

In future get IHG creidt card and book through them online for best rates and a few free rooms a year

My guess is he's an online pro from Eastern Europe or something like that who would play as high as possible against US live players, but in fitting that description he's also trying to squeeze as much EV out of his travel costs as possible.

As Commerce isn't residential neighborhood, airbnb would prob be about as much as the $75/night hotels two miles from Commerce, but airbnb locations might be less convenient. I'd be checking Bravo to see patterns of when the big games run and if they seem to run a lot on the days you plan to go, I'd pay at least 200/night for the convenience.

I posted in the Internet Bovada forum saying that I am only able to open up one 30/60 LHE 6max table at a time (not an issue with any other game/stake). WillyT mentioned he's having the same issue. Anyone else?
10-14-2017 , 10:14 AM
Maybe it's not an issue/problem but a planned feature.

Yeah, trying to figure out if that's the case.

Priceline has a hidden express deal right now for a 3.5 star casino hotel at $126 plus taxes/fees. Do any of the other casinos have hotels? I put in Commerce, CA for the city, so assume it's at Commerce. I'm sure that's not a constant thing either if you're going to be there when demand for rooms is high.

Bicycle has a hotel now, and it's very close by Commerce, so it could be that one, but it's brand new and probably more expensive.

prob the doubletree. don't use third party cant get poker rate discount, usually 20-40 a night. Just call casino and ask for bet rate, usually IHG member rate then tip floor and ask for poker rate then just be happy with what it is. They could charge 400 a night and i'd pay so just be happy its somewhat reasonable.

also whatever rate you get add like $30 a night for LA taxes and valet

I would never airbnb there personally. Would be to scared at night to sleep

Just bring your kevlar sleeping bag.

Have stayed at the Travel Lodge in Bell Gardens. $80-100 / night weekday. It's no frills but gets the job done.

I dont try to get the maximum ev in terms of money. It should be just cosy/comfortable place for a reasonable price. I dont like hotels in general because it is like a prison to me. In terms of zombigrinding it might be okay, but in case of getting variety in food/restaurants and sightseeing you still need a car/uber + you might save at least 100$ on avg. Dont I get it right?
In case I will find some place via airbnb with free parking while renting a car (or just using uber), will it be hard to go to casinos and back every day during 3-4 days? It seems to be 10 km or something to Commerce, but im not sure how bad is traffic in LA.
10-15-2017 , 12:00 PM
its not that its overly difficult or hard to commute, its just that convienient to be there if playing big. if you are playing 60 to 2-4 you can go donwstairs and put your name on list and have them call your room. Otherwise if you get shut out it could be 8+ hours before you get a seat in a game. If you just want to play 40 then your plan is fine.
10-15-2017 , 11:18 PM
Yeah that's the other thing. Just from looking on Bravo and ime as a tourist, it was very tough to get a seat at 60. The 1/2+ games might also be hard to get seat and/or won't run 24 hrs, as compared to when you last visited. Though I agree that staying at hotels are similar to prison, it's prob important to be available when your name is called for the big games.

I called support and they said it's the first they had heard of this bug. Would be useful if others called in to report it as well so they know it is widespread.

This also crossed my mind but I think if that were the case it'd be more likely to, at least, also be in effect for the big bet games.

Have also stayed at the Bike after the renovation. The room is stellar and a great place to decompress after playing.

Fun hand:

I'm running hot and open 78 UTG+1. CO who is stuck a ton from the 40/80 game 3 bets. Loose Button caps and we see a flop. 9 6 4 with a flush draw. Checks to button who bets and I c/r. CO calls as does button. Turn is a 10! bringing a second flush draw. I lead, CO raises, Button tank calls, I 3!, and CO 4 bets! Button tank calls. I call.

River is an off suit 4 pairing the board. ASDF. I check, CO calls, button calls, and I call. CO rivers a boat with TT and button calls 4 bets on the turn drawing dead with KK. 21 bets
