I agree with all of this. Unfortunately Adobe's detailed instructions for removing Flash from a system entirely break at the point of certain files and folders requiring TrustedInstaller credentials, hence my using the workaround.
But yes, and for those stumbling across this thread in future, this very much should not be a business as usual approach (hence my emphasis on removing the capability as soon as it has been used for the specific purpose).
