***hope this is the right sub-forum for this, if not I'm sorry***

I currently have/had an Apple iMac. The 27inch/1TB drive/8gb RAM/2560x1440 res' pixels. It had a little accident and is now broken so I am in need of a new desktop.

My first thought was/is to simply pay a visit to Apple store and spend £1700 on a new one. But I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on any other desktop I should consider getting that is near to the iMac spec as possible.

The main use of my desktop is poker. So will need something that is capable of playing 12 tables with out over lap. Apart from poker I only use the desktop for watching TV shows/movies (All legally acquired ofc) and general internet stuff. I'm not into computer games.

I am not really a 'tech' kinda guy so I don't know what else is worth looking at so hope you guy's can throw some suggestions in to the equation.

Thanks a lot people

Mark

p.s. I will just add that I am from the UK > not sure if that makes a difference though.
p.p.s. I should add that ideally I am looking for an 'all in one' desktop

Howmuch you willing to spend on it?

My setup is a Macbook Pro 2.4Ghz w/ 4GB RAM (Playing o,n Windows XP via Bootcamp) connected to a samsung BX2431 24inch LED monitor.

I play on the 24inch monitor while watching like Pokerstars.tv on my MacBook screen.

MacBook Pro costs 999£. Don't know for the screen in pounds.

Anyways, if you want to go back to Mac, why not a laptop... Playing poker doesn't need that much, and my Mac handles it smoothly, 12-14 tabling + watching tv + HEM2 and all...
So back to Mac =1000£ +

To be honest you can get with the same £, a 'better' PC (more specs).
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying no on pc and only go Mac. Mac is expensive, but you pay for the 'experience' not the specs. As for poker on Mac, it's versatile enough to get it done.

Thanks for the reply pal.

A new iMac would cost me £1700, so that would be my budget for whatever I decide to get. I already have a macbook but the 13inch one that I use for when I travel. To be honest I will most likely just go with the Apple but thought it a good opportunity to see what else is out there. Will look into your suggestions. thank you Sir
