I am running a Lenovo smartpad with windows 10 on it.
Somehow I have managed to delete the stuff the comes up when you left click on the Start button at the bottom left hand side of the screen. Also my clock and weather apps have been deleted as well. I am sure it is my error I deleted some files that seemed to be old game files and then deleted them in the recycling bin.
I can right click on the start button and a bunch of stuff comes up.
I tried to do a system restore but I had not enabled it prior so the only system restore point I can get is the one after my boob.
Any ideas of how to fix this -short of doing a reinstall (which I made when I got this laptop 2 years ago)?
PS: just a note on the reinstall which I wanted to avoid. I had windows 8 and got the free upgrade the install would have been windows 8 which I had made a copy of.
Hey Al,
For future usage, once the license was upgraded to Win10, that license can be used to reinstall the same SKU of Win 10. So Win8Pro to Win10Pro upgraded key can be used to reinstall Win10Pro. Same for Home version. Enterprise/EDU licenses are a whole separate ball of wax.

If you want to clean/repair your Windows install and keep your documents and data, use the "Refresh" option. You'll have to reinstall your apps and software after refresh.
If you want to delete everything (giving computer away, clean up after nasty virus/malware) you can use the Reset option that deletes your data. If you're concerned with a hostile party attempting to extract personal or financial data from the drive, keep the drive and have it shredded (best option), or run a multipass drive erasure tool.
