I'd like to try to set up a virtual party. Don't know if it is even possible but I'm guessing someone here would know.

I have a smart TV. I have wifi. A couple of computers with cameras.

What I'm thinking of is having a party in my house with a camera on the main room where everyone will be. Additionally, let people remote in somehow to be able to see and hear the party. And, somehow, show those remote people on the TV screen (like with face time or something). Like brady bunch style.

Is this even possible? Where would I start?

Yeah, this is where I started. It seemed sort of complicated and expensive. A lot of it was hardware. I didn't really want to spend much on a one time thing.

But, I wasn't really thinking this through. My thought was exactly what you said - videoconferencing software. But we ended up just hooking up a laptop with a camera to the TV via HDMI and running skype. Worked like a charm.
