what is the best way to record your screen while coding? most of the videos you see of people doing it (even for paid content) are pretty crappy.

Don't do exit interviews.

Likely to be OBS

Any particular reason why? This is about the only tech company in my hometown that I would like to work for. If I ever move back here I'd like to be in good standing with them.

This is what I was going to recommend - it's what pretty much every twitch streamer uses.

OBS screen capture is pretty good and easy to set up. It's a resource hog though; unlikely to a be a problem for you but be aware of it.

Waste of my time, zero upside and tons of potential downside. Refusing an exit interview won't put in "bad standing" either.

Lol what, the exit interviews are just a formality. There’s no secret manipulation that is being pulled. You sign some paper work and they ask why you are leaving and that’s it. No ones going to poison you.

Yea I don't see the harm. I just go 100% fake and positive and leave on good terms.

Why bother/waste your time? For what? To talk to some HR drone you've never spoke to in your life who secretly hopes you admit to stealing from the company or something? Fun. I'll talk to my boss sure but not HR.

I'm sympathetic to that viewpoint for sure, but it's easy enough to just answer the things minimally as possible.

I had one job I absolutely hated that the HR person wanted me to fill out a form for, I declined and just wrote in the blank space at the bottom that I enjoyed my time and wished everyone the best.

Many people remember you by the last interaction they have. If they think you are rude for refusing to do the interview you never know how that could hurt you in the future (especially since they are involved in HR...) versus spending a few minutes just having a peasant convo with someone.

Idk I don't like to talk about myself in that way. It's probably just me.

I had the most stereotypical day of phone screen interviewing ever:

Candidate #1: seemed pretty good, answered most of my questions, I'll probably never hear from him again.
Candidate #2: awful, had react and CSS all over the resume, couldn't tell me what a lifecycle method was, couldn't tell me what flexbox was.
Candidate #3: 1st call went to voicemail, 2nd call 5 minutes later he answered and hung up on me.

Yeah, this. Being able to successfully get through something as formulaic and standard as an exit interview without causing any issues shouldn’t be some big skill or challenge. And if it is, the exit interview isn’t going to make anything worse for you.

Meeting this morning was to remind me of the NDA and non-solicitation agreements that I signed when I became employed, as well as to go through what exactly that means. Pretty standard stuff I think.

I doubt it matters but always remember that what they tell you it means isn’t necessarily what it actually means.

Good point. Some of what he said seemed a bit wrong, especially in regards to solicitation of current employees. I asked about the situation of someone contacting me looking for a referral (which is ** UnhandledExceptionEventHandler :: OFFICIAL LC / CHATTER THREAD ** not solicitation) and he recommended I just send them to my new companies website and not give them a personal referral.

Except for the time where I got laid off, I've never experienced this. Every time I change jobs I say to myself "I should take off a few weeks in between" but somehow I almost always schedule it so that I go straight from one to the other.

Ha I'm the opposite. I always take a full month off. I'm usually driven mad by boredom by the end of it but the first couple weeks are very nice

having a great day here, just did 4 commits and pushes to master as I didn't realize I didn't make a feature branch (I'm admin). Now to own up to it or just force push..
