jmakin,

(i've now discussed this topic in 3 different forums!)

There is a reason people are telling you to keep looking. There is also the major factor of confidence/ comfort that comes from knowing you have an offer that makes you more likely to do well in interviews.

It is absolutely worth sending a few well targeted resumes to companies you think are interesting over the next couple days.

hi guys,

can anyone recommend me a good beginner css course?

i want to confidently fiddle around with my blog's theme rather than doing the very labour intensive "guess which parameter does what, repeat" thing

i know some html/python so i'm not starting from totally nothing, but pretty close to that

This is great advice.

Definitely this. It's simple, until you have a job you don't have a job so keep up the process of filling the pipeline.

In case you aren't aware, the Chrome/Firefox developer tools (right click -> Inspect) let you see all the CSS rules applied to a thing and where from, and let you edit them "live" - which can be very handy for the "guess which parameter does what" part of learning a CSS,

While this is useful for debugging etc, probably don't want to be deconstructing CSS and using that as an example of how to do layout, since all layout pre flexbox is a crime against humanity.

I got offered a job at that company and here's what he described the role to me as:

manage and prioritize deadlines, deal with the team and make sure everything's getting done, deal with clients, crisis management, make sure everything's running smoothly. Title is "software engineer."

unsure what to ask for salary wise because this seems like a step up from your typical grunt entry level position.

Doesn't sound like a software engineer.

As far as pay if they've offered you the job its up to them to offer you the salary. If you're going to accept it respond with "sounds interesting, could you go over the salary and benefits this position has?"

This is Success Manager stuff or Scrum Manager stuff, if you aren’t coding you aren’t engineering software.

He stressed there would definitely be programming involved

I did what was essentially glorified manual data entry to get my foot in the door and just begged them for any code work. Theyd usually toss me super legacy bugs no one wanted to do. Id say if theres programming involved for sure, youre pretty set. You just need one job to get in

A software engineering job for a recent grad that doesn't start with "writing code" sounds weird. Most of those tasks listed were support roles and shouldn't be **** the developer worries about except when they aren't getting done right.

That's a really weird and narrow minded view.

What is? Having a kid right of school (I'm not remembering if it was a boot camp or a traditional degree) being responsible of keeping teems on task? Talking to clients? Larry, if you think the average IT grad is a good choice to talk to clients then I've misjudged your previous career a lot. "Crisis Management?" What does that even mean? I certainly don't want a junior developer doing it. I wan't a Product Owner making sure everything is getting done in the right order prioritized according to the dates they got from the Project Manager. Again, not something I want handled by a junior developer.

It's like no one wants to do the management stuff and they just pawn it off on the FNG.
