I don’t know, I don’t play in the trash... I thought ctrl x still cut stuff regardless of the menu options? Although it’s been so long since I did a clean install I may still have some little app or CLI configuration that does it from years ago. I used to have one that showed hidden files but finally got tired of it and turned it off.

I had the "Delete Immediately" option that well named has and I'm on Sierra.

Suzzer, just for my own sanity, was the issue that the files were kept around in the internal Photos "Deleted Photos" (or whatever)?

I don't see a "deleted photos" area of the mac photos app.

Ok yeah - I see delete immediately on my home computer which is on El Capitan. Should go back to the fanboy forums and have them explain why it is now GOOD and RIGHT that Apple added this feature, after them screaming that it would be BAD and WRONG and users should feel ashamed for asking for it.

Wanted to get back to this. As someone who's lost everything in life over and over since I was a child, I get that there's pain associated with this. I have the opposite problem, where owning anything more than I can carry on my back is an oppressive weight and I need to start throwing things out stat. It's very difficult for me to not act on this impulse and it's a daily fight. I made it my goal to own two loads of laundry 20 years ago... I never attained that one, even when I was so blessed to have a washer & dryer in my apartment.

Since I'm such a minimalist, people ask me to help them clean up their clutter. I grab and item and suggest tossing it out: "Oh, it has sentimental value because...." It takes weeks to go through all the emotions, but after they are done tossing old **** out, they do feel better about it. If you surround yourself with objects that remind you of your past, you live there. I've found that, quite often, that past is filled with lost hopes and pain, and those objects trap hold those spirits.

About 15 years ago, I helped a pack-rat with her garbage. After one week, we filled up a 20 foot dumpster, and I never once stepped into her house. Looking around the yard, you'd think I didn't pick up a single item. It was a fight to get her to toss a box of rusted and bent nails, no joke.

Been seeing people walking around with those Air Pods. They look ridiculous.

They have like a matchbox type thing they live in and it charges them too I think.

They are very good. Comfortable to wear, quick charging, easy to pair and get great reception from my phone or watch. At least as good as the Beats they replaced and were cheaper too.

I can listen to earphone for hours, but sometimes something or someone grabs my attention and I need to pull them out. There are those times I just hang them behind my neck because I just don't feel like listening to music.

I know you can set them down when you are home.

Be careful with "at least as good as Beats." Someone is going to say you can get DJ-standard / audio profesional Sennheisers for the same price (and lower), but it won't be me, lol.

I mean beats are obviously a terrible product (but great marketers) and you can get equal quality for an order of magnitude less cost, but I figured everyone knew that.

You own the hardware. The software is licensed to you - and only after you accept the T&Cs.

Dave, pictures are not the same as physical objects. And I’m genuinely sorry that thinking of the past isn’t pleasant for you, but for other people it is. And for those people it makes sense to make permanently deleting pictures more than a one command process.

Further, yes people should back up their pictures. But people aren’t perfect all the time so it’s totally reasonable to have this functionality in photos (now, maybe it’s implemented poorly, but that’s a different thing).

I had a recruiter contact me to be basically own the Beats By Dre website, when they were just getting started, long before they were bought by Apple. I said I was interested but it never got to interview stage. I wonder what kind of options package they'd have offered? Did I miss out on $millions?

It's common for people to keep around Christmas lights that burned out 5 years ago, save newspapers covering the entire month of a major event (like all of Sept 2001), keep 100,000 photos on their computer that they will never ever look at again, keep contact information of people they knew 10 years ago, and so on...

This isn't sentimental value -- it's just not getting rid of stuff, causing unneeded physical and technical clutter.

Of course, everyone is super happy using Facebook chasing down their old sweethearts, so there is that, right?

I use my watch to pause them when I need too or just take them out and put them in their case. I listened to about a 10 different blu tooth ear buds before settling on the Beats, I don’t give a **** what some hipster with good hearing says about anything I own.

So we're gonna ALL IN on microservices right? And of course my group was supposed to be leading the charge but because all we do is make POCs that never see the light of day, some other group actually built stuff and is now way ahead. So we're now using a 'self-hosted' version of that platform, which I am dubious what that even means.

Anyway we just had them generate a new microservice for me to play around with. My bosses want me to strip it down and make a new node template before I leave. FFS I have nothing to do for a year and now I actually have to do things with 3 weeks left. Outrageous. Although they did tell me I have more node experience than anyone else at my 250k employee company - which you can probably guess by now but LOLOL don't care cuz almost gone. So that puffed me up a little

Anyway the MS is generated, here's your repo. Great. Ok um is there a readme file or some instructions to use this thing - like how do I run it locally, what web address do I hit to see if it's working, etc? I **** you not the response was "That was slide 4 of the deck we presented a few weeks ago. Do you want me to resend it?"

You must be this tall to do microservices. And we are somewhere 1000' below the surface of the earth.

I talked to the hiring manager for my "react/kubernetes expert" position and he's like "uh no we just need a react guy to build a web app, we can't find any so we figured we'd find someone who knows back end and see if they could learn JS". but I'm exactly what they need and its a lead dev job for stupidly high money at a fortune 100 and I'm sure I'll find a way to screw it up next week.

Id be up for a meet up, but the problem is that I do so much travelling for work (relative to what I want to do) that it’s hard for me to make an extra trip.

I'm more interested in how you use it when you're out and about. If it's just for home, okay, I get it.
