There is no way that really improves your chances of ever getting hired. Actually the only time that would be useful is if you weren't talking to someone in HR, but that would mean you're getting hired outside traditional channels so w/e.

Honestly, what do you think the HR guy is gonna do and/or what will it add to your candidacy? "Listened to me ramble at length for 20 minutes. Clear listening skills. Unsure if just put receiver on mute and did something else tho."

New guy on the side job trying to get us organized can't seem to figure out how to send me a screenshot or simple UI stuff like a combo box. TBF it's a weird VSTS combo box with an arrow that shows a list, but hides the search icon until you type something. But still - type name, click search. Growing concerned.

Other new designer/branding/copy guy seems awesome. 3rd time might be a charm on that one.

Security liability. One notification waiting in the app store and I assume it's an update. Keeping out of date software is a major security risk.

If he's a developer, what programs is he using to actually...develop?

I'm not a heavy Mac guy so I don't recognize everything on that taskbar, but I don't see Xcode or anything that I know to be an IDE/editor. No Terminal either. But maybe that's just a personal computer and he uses other **** to do work, idk.

That would be question #1. The few icons I don't recognize really don't look like an IDE to me. Maybe he uses a VM or something? He works for nginx - on their docker/kubernetes ingress controller. We're not interviewing him but he was presenting on a meeting.

Question #2 is I always wonder about people who don't delete the stock mac stuff that no one uses - like ibook and whatever that stamp thing is. Also mission control, photos, calendar, contacts, iTunes, app store - no way he uses all of that stuff enough to need it on the task bar.

But after some quick checking around I work with really good devs who just let that stuff sit there. Probably just my OCD. Deleting those icons is the first thing I do.

Yeah, who the **** cares what's on the dock? Personally, I don't use it.

If I were screensharing with someone not in the company I would have everything shut down except the thing I was sharing. In which case you're going to see something relatively similar because I don't put apps in the dock and I don't care enough to delete the stock mac apps.
