Just reiterating what muttiah said - looking at the documentation for packaged_task:

https://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/thread/packaged_task

The "bool()" as the template parameter just means that LoadSaveGame is declared as a function taking no arguments and returning type bool, eg:

Code:
bool LoadSaveGame ()
{
    // Function Body
}
it would be "bool(int, int)" for a function like this:

Code:
bool LoadSaveGame (int a, int b)
{
    // Function Body
}
it would be "void(int, int)" for a function like this:

Code:
void LoadSaveGame (int a, int b)
{
    // Function Body
}
Juk

Bought a Ryzen 3700X with bent pins for 50€

Fun project

If I get it straightened up without pins breaking I will have an amazing CPU for very cheap. They go for about 200€ I think atm

can you please film the project so we can hear you scream curse words in carrot if they break instead of bend

Even if pins break, decent chance I get it running. I did that before with a Ryzen 2200g using pins from a 2€ Athlon CPU

Got my Ryzen 3700X with bent pins and unbent them all. One was tricky because it was bent in the middle. CPU working. 200€ CPU for 50€.

how's flipping pcs going?

One business I'm familiar with in the refurb space started about 3 years ago, grew well but they're running into a diminishing returns wall. Looks like the competition entering the market is growing faster than the market itself. So they're looking more towards providing more related products/services with their existing client base.

Halting. I didn't build anything for 6m due to excessive GPU pricing. Prices are going down right now and I've got 4 PCs for sale again.

It's a hobby, so there is no sales pressure. I can always put them with 0 margin, if need to be.

But I've sold 22 PCs over 2020+2021, I expect to sell these as well

The 3700X I sold directly btw. I had no build where that would fit. I don't build high end RTX systems. I got 175€ for it.

didn't know we had a dutch michael dell

think you'd really enjoy listening to this https://www.npr.org/2019/12/19/78990...s-michael-dell

he made a ton of money as a teen doing direct mailing as a newspaper subscription seller and used some of that money to buy a computer just to open it up and see what was inside, after discovering his 3k computer had only $500 of parts inside it, he figured there was a lot of room here to make money - just incredible story about an incredibly impressive teenager - was a thriving government contractor (buying stock computers, putting bigger harddrives on them and selling to the us government) while still in college

what's a typical markup you get

100-150€ per computer

About 15-20%

I'm not really in it for the money. I enjoy chasing cheap components and being the first to buy, building a solid PC, selling for a decent price and have a happy customer.

My son's gaming PC looks different every week, due to me swapping components lol

Earlier this year I burned through 300-400€ of hardware due to a badly connected modular cable. I blew up 3 boards (2 pretty expensive ITX) and 2 CPU's before I found the issue

Also I have had various graphics cards see die on me. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose

GPU prices dropping like stones

I'm seeing some RTX GPU's for like half the price of a couple of months ago.

Why are the prices dropping? I'm guessing miners aren't buying up all the stock as quickly anymore?

That seems like a very likely explanation.

Price falls are (usually) caused by an increase in supply, or a reduction in demand. In this case, a reduction in demand seems very very likely.

just an fyi, ev car reduction numbers are never accurate because they just do it from the point of running the car itself and don't account for such things as how the electricity the ev cars run off is generated nor the construction/transportation/etc of getting the car from blueprint to constructed project to parked at the new owner's driveway

It's also my understanding that supply chain issues are nowhere near as much of a problem as they were

Hey fellow nerds, I'm trying to set up an advanced poker environment for my studies. I downloaded anaconda and instantly regretted it, it's way too.. bloatware-y for my needs. so I uninstalled it and downloaded pycharm community edition from the interwebz and then jupiter notebook from pip. I want to make an effective minimalist study environment for poker.
Right now I have flopzilla , pt4, postgresql, and python. Was wondering what I should use for a minimalist approach to gto study and if there is any advantage to downloading miniconda.

I really want to learn postgres sql and feel like i'm using it at idiot-tier level, like obv the default settings for pt4 are not optimal. Was also wondering if there is some guide about intermediate psalm in regards to pt4 somewhere.

welp, PT4 is pretty old and whack by now
in my experience, DH2 (DriveHud) and H2N (Hand2Note) are faster across the board, not to mention waaaaay more useful features, esp if you're into R&D
as far as I know, DH2 doesn't use postgresql and it's by far the cheaper of the 2 and H2N is hands down the most complete software if you're willing to pay the annual fee

PT4 and HEM3 mostly piss me off

Thanks for the response. I think one of the things i'm subconsciously saying is I want to learn postgresql, not because it's better at tracking poker hands but for learnings sake. I'm sure there is a lot of functionality in that programming i'm missing.

for me postgresql is acting up and taking a huge chunk of storage space for no reason
i.e. importing 20M hands that were a couple of gigs in size once unzipped managed to clog up some 150 gigs of storage
not to mention loading up that many hands takes pt4 36h+ vs a few hours on the non postgresql DH2

what db does dh2 use? 20 million is a lot of hands. I havent done this yet but I would think at some point I'd be using a virtual server to analyze things? is mongodb somehow an option?

No idea what DH2 uses, apparently H2N is also by default using their own bundled database server.
You'll have to ask the devs in their support threads in the software section on 2+2.
