I hate the fact Microsoft rebranded Lync as Skype for Business to pretend that it's as fast as Skype for screen sharing. Amazingly sluggish.

Fyi, they see me as a recent college graduate who just started working. But actually, i'm a former poker pro who had to reinvent myself to be able to get hired. Since this is my first "real" job, I'm just curious of typical salary increases going forward. Maybe my expectations are completely off.
In my experience "Year End" bonuses are often not calculated until the final results are in and paid out around the end of the 1st quarter.

YMMV, but on it's own, it's not a red flag.

If it's a small place, they may not have automatic raise discussions. You might have to ask for one yourself.

This doesn't make a difference either way.

There's really no such thing as a "typical salary increase" - some may get none, some may get 20%, some may get 50%. Unless you have very good management that's extremely serious about employee retention and satisfaction and proactive about compensation, or you're overpaid in a downmarket, you need to have periodic "where do I stand" talks with whoever it is that decides your compensation. You know, the basic, how you're doing, how they see you, what they think you need to do better, what your growth path is, what you're happy with, what you're not happy with, how you see things could be better, etc, while subtly reminding them that money (and whatever else it is that you want, titles, responsibilities, whatever) is something you strongly value. And if you feel that they don't value you - and you should be able to read between the lines here - find another job.

How is it possible that so many programmers use Linux, the lion's share of our web servers are on Linux, yet about 50% of all sites are straight-up broken on Linux?

What kind of problems are you having? I'm on Ubuntu and had to turn off GPU acceleration in the chrome settings but since then haven't had any significant issues. There was a stretch of time where google maps would just show a black screen but they fixed it.

You could also check out chromium or one of the other browsers where linux isn't a 2nd class citizen.

It's mostly form validations that get me. Seems to be a common issue all across the board.

Also, for some reason, Captcha works questionably at best, especially these new "click on the pictures with a road sign" ones.

wut? I use chromium as my main browser and google-chrome when I want to use flash and I can't recall a single problem in the last year or two.

some examples please?

I'm using firefox on fedora. That may explain a bit, but it doesn't make a load of sense to me.

It just happened. I was on this website, filling out a job application. I entered information and it kept on responding that I left the fields blank so the form wouldn't validate.

Youtube is kind of a PITA at times. Opens up blank all the time.

I do have Adobe Flash installed, along with gnash.

I'm guessing it isn't from uBlock Origin or any type of similar ad/js blocker?

The web in general still has tons of dumb stuff.

We were recently looking at what we should do for a certain hover effect considering windows tablets, so we looked at what Amazon was doing and what they were doing was bad.

I only have Disconnect, Social Disconnect, Google Disconnect, and Blacken. Not sure if any of those have to do with JS form validation.

Just blew the easiest online coding challenge for an internship that I got from a company that rhymes with Godzilla. I feel like an idiot. I have done over 50 questions on leetcode, most of them easy, and the question I was stuck on was on leetcode as easy.

The real comedy is I went to find those plugins hoping it wasn't a joke.

Good job, you fooled me twice.

I jumped in too quickly without going over sample cases. I completed this in less than 10 mins afterwards
