I'm trying to dual-boot Linux on my Win7 machine, and I haven't been able to successfully burn the ISO image to disk.

I've tried a few burners, but all of them fail. The error returned by Free ISO burner returns this message:

Failed to write ISO image, Error: Hardware Error 9216

This error finally comes up after 2 hours of burning, though I can't be sure that it actually is burning since there is no progress bar. When I put the disk back in, Windows thinks it is blank. Using a DVD-R. I also have a pack of CD-R that I can try out.

So far I've tried:
- downloading different ISOs.
- 3 different burners
- USB, which was an epic fail.

I'd hate to think that this is a hardware issue, so I'm asking here before I give up.

Computer:
Lenovo v570, i5
Window 7 64bit

An attempt with the Win7 burner returns this error:

the disk image didn't burn successfully because an error occurred (Error code: 0x8007045D)

Seems a bit much to burn a disk. This can't be real, can it?

The Microsoft answers article is an explanation of a way to diagnose whether this issue is being caused by 3rd party applications. some quick googling does seem to suggest that conflicting 3rd party applications is a frequent cause of the error you are receiving.

When you first started trying to burn the ISO, did you have multiple CD burning utilities and/or some 3rd party USB utilities installed?

I don't know your optical drive speed or the file size of the ISO, but fwiw, a couple hours seems like a really really long time.

have you tried imgburn as your software?

2h of burning is ridic, burning a DVD takes like 10 minutes, so it suggests some hardware problem

Google seems to be saying that it's a software issue.

In that case what I would try is

1) Uninstall any burning software you have
2) Get a registry cleaning software and run it
3) Install *One* software burning tool and see if the problem is resolved

If it still exists then its probably a hardware issue.

I had headaches burning an ISO a couple months ago. I got imgburn and it worked like magic.

I ended up getting it to work with imgburn, but I had to change a few of the settings in the program to get it to work out. Thanks for the suggestion, all.

Neither am I which reminds me... always back up your registry before making any changes.

I've read so much hype that cleaning up your registry will speed up your computer but its never happened for me or for anyone else as far as I know.

Give up the burning tool on your computer ,sometimes they work ,sometime they don't .

I had the same problem but I managed to get the DVD to burn with the Windows ISO burner.
