Thinking of upgrading my CPU Thinking of upgrading my CPU

Been running a lot of sims lately and have been thinking of upgrading my cpu.

I'm currently running an i5-4590 and was thinking of getting an i5-8400 or i7-8700 (also open to others if I'll notice a big difference)

Would I notice a big difference in speed while running calculations using GTO+/HRC?

Simple spots I still run pretty quickly but when adding multiple bet sizes and donks I have had it take 12 mins per flop so just trying to cut down on that.

I also notice that when running them my computer lags when trying to use web browser or other things (my cpu meter is at 100%) so would like to be able to multi task more efficiently as well.

Thanks in advance

Use cpu-z, try looking at clock speed/mhz and multiplier when idle, then when at load. Does the multiplier go from like 8 to 37 (or similar)? Does the clock speed bounce higher too?

Multiplier goes from 8 to 35

Core speed goes from 800 to 3700ish

If its bouncing like that at load, could be an Intel Speedstep issue. Then again, it could be GTO+/HRC fully maxing out the cpu, or an ssd issue, or... (I'm going by the info in the post)

I'd try turning off Speedstep (EIST - Enhanced Intel Speedstep) in BIOS for your motherboard.

I have an Intel Haswell processor too, so that's why I suggest trying that first.

Ok thanks for the info, I'll give that a try.
