Anyone know how to do this? block:autorefresh doesn't do it, nor does the twitter setting "reduce motion".

Is it that Twitter is continually moving while you have it active?

Or it only when you open the tab for the first time in a while?

ty for reply. It's doing both; if I stay at the top of the page it keeps refreshing every minute or so and if I scroll up to the top of the page it'll refresh and if I return to the page from another tab it will refresh.

zica,

It seems that when your browser is at the top of the Twitter feed, it will continue to refresh, regardless of your settings. I suspect that you can avoid that by scrolling down a tweet or two (this works for me in Tweetdeck on Chrome).

On reloading a Twitter page which has been dormant for a while, a Reddit thread suggests convincingly that this is because Firefox remove dormant tabs from memory:

I think you can turn it off by setting browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory to false in about:config

(On Android the setting is apparently called browser.tabs.disableBackgroundZombification but the source I found this from is a few years old)

Thank you so much. I will pursue this.

I don't suppose you know any PC browser within which twitter can be made to never refresh except when the user presses the refresh button, do you?

I use tweetdeck.twitter.com in Google Chrome.

You can just scroll down a tweet to stop the refreshing.
