Safe windows movie maker alternative?

Hey guys, hoping I can get some help finding a free but safe video editor. I'd like to edit some Christmas videos I got. I used to use Windows Movie Maker but it's been years since I've done it and apparently that's been discontinued.
For anyone that can answer this: why does my Kaspersky detect websites as "secure" where there are dirty downloads of these files?

I had basically the same quest a few months ago and I ultimately used VSDC (linked on the page that Gabe linked above).
The review on Gabe's link is very accurate. In general I would say that I accomplished everything that I wanted to do splicing some clips, but it was not as "easy" to accomplish the relatively basic things like it was in Windows Movie Maker. But it is definitely more powerful if you're willing to spend some time to learn how to do it.
