Ryzen 3900x voltage Ryzen 3900x voltage

I recently bought a new PC (link to my thread). I was reading a bit about temperatures/voltages and while my CPU temperature seems reasonable (max I've seen is ~67, usually low to mid 60s when running sims), I'm consistently running at ~1.38V when running sims which googling suggests might be too high?

I find most of the discussions extremely confusing, but some people seem to suggest that extended use at that level might degrade the chip. Is this something I should be worried about? If so what can I do to fix it? I'm using all the default settings, no overclocking or anything, I downloaded the latest chipset drivers but haven't done any other manual driver updates.

Any advice appreciated!
Steve

you can under volt manually
depending on the quality of your silicon you manage anywhere from a 50mV to 150
can do that and leave everything else on auto, PBO on (their auto overclock feature, found in the AMD CBS tab in bios or there might be an XFR Enhancement tab and set Precision Boost Overdrive to auto)
will need stability testing, gonna take a while. I'm running 60 on my 2700x with stock cooling, can prob go up to 80-90 and not see crashes.
not familiar with this particular chip tho, 1.38v does sound a bit high but it's prob within operating limits. I know some mobos were cranking 3rd gen Ryzens on their first bioses but this problem should be fixed now. You should be able to get it to <1.3V with manual tweaks if it worries you and that's def a safe value.
fiy, under volting cannot fry a chip, but over volting can. If you want all manual control for some more small gains you'll have to do your due research, there are tons of settings and everything is connected, changing one will affect the others so you really need to understand what they do.

Thanks for the reply. So is it reasonable to just cap the voltage in ryzen master at 1.3V? Googling gives all kinds of complicated ways of doing things in the BIOS which I'm not really comfortable with....here's the setup I made in Ryzen Master, ran the stress test and it seems ok?

edit: running a sim now, speed seems similar but hard to be sure, CPU temperature is quite significantly lower (55 vs low-mid 60s before)
2nd edit: temp creeping up to 56-57ish but seems steady there

check cpu voltage with HW Info, run the sensors only (you will see the option when the software starts). download the portable version so you don't have to install anything. run a sim as you check in the background.

With the settings I showed above I was seeing voltages in HWinfo around 1.25 when running sims. I switched it back to the default settings and am running a sim and seeing 1.33-1.35 with an occasional brief jump up to 1.38. Not seeing any noticeable speed difference.

Ryzen Master seems to be doing the job
I'd stick with <1.3V if possible
