Can anyone recommend me a new PC my holdem manager is finding it hard to run on my current pc I'm not sure the cause though

I'm fairly clueless as to what to buy.
My budget is less that 1,000.
Preferably, I'd like to pay around 500.

What kind of specs should I be looking for do I need 16gb ram? I currently have 4gb. seen SDD is important for HM also

Asus ROG Core i7-6700 8GB 1TB + 128GB SSD GeForce GTX 970 Windows 10 Gaming Desktop for 875 euro is what I'm looking at at the moment.
It has everything I was recommended but I'm unsure if some specs are wasted just for poker

Are you looking for a PC only with this budget, or do you need a new monitor as well?
The desktop you mentioned sounds reasonable (16GB of RAM would be preferable. Are you comfortable upgrading this on your own?) but the graphics card is overkill if you are not a gamer. Due to the vagaries of OEM pricing/price premium on customize to order, you may end up with more GPU than you need to get a high performance desktop that comes with an SSD. I would suggest 256GB+ SSD for the OS drive if your budget allows.
Do you want a traditional mid-tower case with room to add drives and upgrade, or do you prefer a smaller form factor?

I have everything else 32' and 24' monitors, keyboards mouse, speakers etc as I already have a pc. But my current pc is 4GB is starting to slow down alot hense I want an upgrade.
I know nothing about upgrading computers or computers in general tbh so I'd be clueless on that

as long as the PC your buying has at least 8GB+ RAM, Processor 4.0+ GHz and more or less 500GB hards disk your good to go. If you want to run faster, i recommend you get a SDD card, the 40GB right now are really cheap.

That Asus you called out earlier will be just fine. You can pay someone to add an additional 8 or 16GB of RAM at a later point if you're maxing out your utilization down the road.

Found another one to consider/compare
HP Envy Phoenix 860-050na Intel Core i5-6600K 16GB 2TB + 128GB SSD AMD Radeon R9 370 Graphics Windows 10 Gaming Desktop.
Which one is better in your opinion?
I can get this one second hand for cheaper also

The HP should be a bit better all-around, with a slightly slower CPU and GPU. This should be a better choice at a lower price point and being able to keep more of the DB in memory.

If you are on a budget, I would build myself and use AM4 platform. For 500 EUR you can get a decent Ryzen 5 1500x computer that can be upgraded quite a bit later on, should you choose to do so. On a budget, you only want to spend money on parts that you really need. So I'd get a cheap GPU and try and put the rest of the money into SSD/RAM. This should cost you around 500-700 EUR imo.

Building your own is a lot to take on for a user self described as clueless on what to buy. There's not a ton of margin on low to mid tier desktop systems and they get better pricing on a Windows license than a home builder. Yes, there are some LOLbad prices on RAM and storage upgrades on CTO systems, but the standard SKUs are generally pretty well priced.
Build your own is great if you're in to it or want to be, OEM is better if you want an appliance.

I agree with what you wrote. I was just trying to live out my fantasy of building a budget PC vicariously through OP. System builds are my favourite form of procrastination at the moment. Sadly given my current living situation and hardware requirements, I'm stuck using a 6th gen Intel laptop and Google's Cloud Compute to manage my workload.

Edit:

Here is an example build from Amazon.de for less than 1000 EUR that I think is pretty good:

Sandybridge is pretty old at this point, buy Haswell or newer (core i5/7 4xxx)

On your self build, first cut is from core i7 7700 to core i5 7600. You're pretty much only giving up Hyperthreading. The Samsung PM961 is an OEM drive, IIRC it doesn't get standard warranty. Check the price difference for a 960 EVO. It has a 3 year warranty and is rated even faster.

Unless I missed it, nowhere in this thread have you told us want you want to do with this machine. We know it's for poker because you mention HM2. But what else? Is it just poker and web browsing? What about gaming, etc?

I don't think I've seen an i7 mentioned in the same build as a 1030........lol.

Get an i5 and use the extra money to get at least a 1050.

Also can get away with 8gb of ram imo.

I ended up being boring and went with the HP Envy. Building my own seemed the way to go but Time wasn't on my hands. I'm Delighted with the HP it's super fast like nothing i've ever had, so far so good. Thanks to all for your help I really learnt a few things about specs etc.

Congrats on the new rig, hope it serves you well. Make sure you get it patched to current (Windows Update) ASAP, there have been some nasty exploits the past couple months.

Your SSD is fairly small, so I'd suggest storing your media files (pictures, music and movies) on the hard drive. you can move the location of your Windows libraries to the hard drive too (I would leave Documents on C:\). You can install programs to the secondary drive as well, but you'll want to be sure HM is installed and running on the SSD. http://www.pcworld.com/article/30253...partition.html

You should also set up file history to sync a copy of your documents folder to the larger drive.
