I have an old dell xps 8100 desktop. Its i5 750 processor so its a quad core and pretty fast. However, its 4gb ram and i have a 500gb 7200 rpm hard drive, no ssd for it. I had reinstalled it or had a friend help me do it many times throughout the years. However each time i or they done this, the computer wasn't wiped clean as theres always been an old windows file.

Im trying to wipe the entire desktop clean and having lot of issues. I was told to follow this

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ndows-7-a.html

I had downloaded the windows 7 home 64 bit iso file online and put it on a usb flash drive. Also downloaded the ethernet driver for my desktop computer for the internet on it as well.

When i did the partitioning... i had a problem. Basically i went and deleted the 2 drives, one is partition file and the other is the unallocated one. I read you have to do this if want to wipe computer clean.

I then saw this

Disk 0 Unallocated Space Total Size is 465.8GB and Free Size is 465.8GB

The cursor is on 476938MB and i have the option to change this number. Then i have to click APPLY. I put 240000mb in it b/c i read in an article put 1/2 the hard drive amount.

I then saw this

Total Space Free Space
Disk 0 Partition 1 234.4gb 234.4gb Primary

Disk 0 Unallocated Space 231.4gb 231.4gb

I clicked format then it gives me a message do i want to do this and i clicked yes. I had this same message earlier when i tried to do it.

Then i clicked next on bottom right and got same message

setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing parittion. see the setup log files for more information. I clicked format waited a bit... same message...

Basically im stuck here and can't fix this issue. Does anyone know what im suppose to do here?

In the setup, I don't bother formatting the drive when I create the partition... the installation of Windows will do that automatically if it is a clean partition.

Delete the partitions you currently have. So you should have 465GB unallocated. Create the partition size you want - the newly created partition will be automatically selected - and click Next. Windows will automatically format and start the installation.

Also, try creating a different size partition... 231GB is pretty large for a Windows partition. I don't normally go above 130GB unless you have a specific need (eg. very large HEM database).

I did a complete reinstall of windows 7 on my desktop using this link as recommended by a person in the forum.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ml#post1839164

I basically want this old desktop to be clean and its still pretty good as i5 750 processor and a quadcore.

I then installed itunes, openoffice, winamp, vlc player. I had also installed panda antivirus and ccleanser as well before that.

Then i opened up chrome and see trovi which is something i always got. I read that you can remove it many ways. I always just removed it by settings and deleting it and changing the startup menu. HOwever i read another method would be use malware bytees or download something else and then scan and it would remove it. Malware bytes doesnt work.

What is the proper way to remove trovi permanently and correctly? I dont believe its the settings and just change the page to google because i did that last time and whenever i visit other sites say such as ebay... the next website i go to i would get ebay ads etc. So its bloatware and tracking. Does anyone know if trovi is the cause of this ads im getting?

Very annoying that i get trovi popup in chrome after i did all this clean install. I read its installed through free programs so i know its either vlc player, winamp or adobe reader or a few other things. Does anyone know program it is specifically?

I got that crapware from bsplayer, its not very hard to get rid off.
Scan your browsers with AdwCleaner and remove everything it suggests, it might remove some extension from browser youd like to keep but just install them again then.

I downloaded adwcleaner. When i click scan, it scans it but then shows pending for a very long time. Am i suppose to keep waiting?

Also previously i used malwarebytes and super anti spyware and both those programs didn't do anything.

I reinstalled windows 7 on my desktop computer. I did a clean reinstall and i had an issue where trovi got installed. I believe it was because i downloaded many programs in my computer.

Example, i would download itunes, openoffice, winamp, vlc player, adobe flash player, winrar etc and many time it ask if you want to install other thing like toolbar etc. I make sure for those things to leave it unchecked. But how do i know if say vlc player, which ones i could uncheck so i dont have bloatware and it wouldn't have any problems?

Someone tells me never download these programs from cnetdownload. Is that true? They said it has lot of bloatware/adware with it and i always used that site to download it. I was told download directly at site or filehippo. So only use these 2 sites?

Does anyone know if trovi is caused by winamp? I downloaded all those programs and really want to know what caused trovi to happen. I did remove it but im not sure if i did it correctly however so not sure if i still have the lagging on computer but it does feel slower than before i installed those programs.

Very frustrating to download programs like that, itunes, skype etc and then have bloatware.

Can someone here who reinstall their computers give me advice on best way to install these programs without getting any bloatware? There is nothing worst than resinstalling computer then having this stuff and thus browser would be really slow.

Do you have any thoughts about Ninite?

Someone recommended me this and looking at the site, it seems like you could download all these programs without bloatware.

I vote ninite. Works great and has never given me any issues.

Got an issue here. When i download winamp using it, my panda antivirus blocks it. So if i download these programs from ninite, i assume just turn off panda first?

Have a Dell xps 8100 and i did a clean reinstall of it by following this page

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ml#post1839164

So it seemed like everything is fine now. However when i right click my computer, i noticed the message

Windows Activation

XX Days To Activate Activate Windows now

25 digit key that i had typed earlier which is in the sticker on my desktop.

When i click activate winddows now, it give me few option of doing it by phone number or two other options. Can someone tell me what im suppose to do here?

So that mean if i dont activate it within days left, that means my desktop computer will no longer work? Im confused why i have this message as i did the clean reinstall then used the 25 digit/letter code so why does it show i still have to activate windows?

1. If needed download the latest official Win7 OS installer ISO file with SP1 and Media Refresh for your 32-bit or 64-bit licensed Windows version. If your download is unavailable, download another version and unlock all versions with eicfg removal tool.
• You can slipstream the latest Updates into the installer ISO to save at least an hour's Updating after install using Update 7 installation media.
However it may take an hour to do this so consider how much you want this.

• If the licensed OS printed on the COA sticker on bottom is Home Basic or Starter then download Home Premium, run the eicfg removal tool to unlock all versions, later during install choose the licensed version from menu.
2. Burn ISO to DVD or write to USB flash stick (minimum size of 4GB required) using Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool.

This is where i think is the issue to solve this problem? If so, im still confused because
Im not sure how to fix this issue. I downloaded small file and put it on usb then put it on desktop. But how am i suppose to run it?

When i click on it, it ask where i want to open it to and thus i need to type something.

I was told this in another forum

Extract and run .exe as Admin to remove ei.cfg.

But not sure how i do this as im not sure how to extract it as left click and right click the options don't have that.

Which version did you install? It looks like your desktop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Look for the windows sticker with product key on your case and see which version it is and note your product key. Then make sure you download the correct version of windows. If your key is for Home Premium but you downloaded Professional, the 25 key will not work.

When the activation period is up, I believe Windows will just nag you frequently to activate it. It will also change your background to black and show up on your background that Windows isn't genuine.

Sometimes the key can only be used a certain number of times before you have to call to activate, Microsoft sets unknown limitations.

Call the number provided to activate it.

They are no unknown limitations... With a standard retail license, you can activate over the internet 5 times. After that you need to phone to activate

I have an old asus u45jc-a1 laptop. It has lot of problems like constant beeping and when connected to a monitor, it would many times monitor go to sleep. I tested this with several monitors and this happens with each monitor so i know its my laptop.

Anyways, i went and bought a new sager laptop mainly b/c i wanted a fast quad core laptop. I got the laptop and it is pretty nice. I didn't transfer anything from my old laptop to the new laptop. The only thing that i did however was i have a usb drive that i plugged into the new sager laptop b/c i have some documents there that i need to put it on my sager laptop. I never did this as i all i did was just plug the usb flash drive into the new laptop thus i dont have any files saved into my new laptop. Thus no documents, just a flash drive.

Recently i noticed that while using this new sager laptop, im having the same beeps just like my old asus laptop. This doesn't make sense at all b/c this laptop is brand new and i can't imagine it having problems like this early on. Also the beeps sound just the same like the asus laptops so i wonder if theres any coincidence to this. I had asked people in forums if i were to transfer documents from my asus laptop to this new sager laptop whether its documents or files, would there be any chance the new laptop would get corrupt files and then it might have similar problems like my asus laptop such as the beeping and connecting to a monitor and it randomly turning off. I was told no thats not even possible. But i didn't transfer any documents, i just used a flash drive that i had on old laptop on this one.

Another thing that has me very worried is in my old laptop, i know i had lot of bloatware and malware because when i visit sites such as say ebay, a bit later when searching other sites, i would see ads on ebay thus its like those tracking cookie i believe its called that does this for advertisements? Well recently i was on my new sager laptop and i noticed an adveristment for something i viewed such as on ebay... however i never viewed this item on my sager laptop. I viewed it on my asus laptop. This does not make any sense whatsoever.

Can someone tell me whats going on here? Why is my new sager laptop beeping so much just like my asus laptop? Another thing that has me very confused is why i did i see a few advertisements on my sager laptop like i do with my asus laptop?

Right now im typing this on my old asus laptop. Previously in many of my posts... there would be words where its highlighted in blue such as you could click on it. Example right now i have the same webpage this one opened on my sager laptop. I see the words monitors, reinstall and new computer in blue where you could click on it. Example you highlight it, it has an ad for Comtia jumpstart your career but when you highlight it, bottom shows www.sevenforums.com/ on another site.

STRANGELY ENOUGH... i don't see this on my asus laptop anymore. And another VERY STRANGE THIS IS... my asus laptop hasn't beeped much at all lately.

Malwarebytes show no problems. Superantisoftware found 117 tracking cookies. I have no idea how i have this much as all i done is visit the main sites to download and google and few computer sites like this one. I do check ebay and amazon though. Also strangely enough... my asus laptop isn't beeping at all. That makes no sense. Whats strange is it seemed like once the sager laptop started beeping, the asus laptop never beep anymore and this is just very recently. Do you think theres any coincidence to this? Previosly my asus laptop beeps very much and it beeps many different ways such as beeping one at a time or beeping 2-3 times at once etc.

This sager laptop beeps once, then again then again but usually like 10 second or a bit longer after each one. But now there are 2 beeps very quickly as well. I however did click on a link from someone in another forum that showed up as a api.viglink. So after I did that, The first thing i immediately did was open my new sager laptop and plug the usb into it so i could see every password i have for my sites so i could log into most of them and then change the passwords immediately. I then changed my passwords for many of those many sites then changed the password for each site setting on the openoffice page. I recalled at that time, i still didnt have any beeps on my new sager laptop. I believe it was the following day when i noticed a few beeps in my new laptop which got me a bit worried but i didn't think that much about it. It wasn't until today when i noticed i had tons of beeping on this laptop.

Do you think there is any chance that could have caused it or not? The thing is i read hackers can infect usb hard drives but the thing is when i clicked on that link, i still had lot of documents saved on that asus laptop such as passwords in my documents thats still there. Then when i thought about it for a while, i went on new sager laptop and change password for lot of sites. During this time however since i clicked on that link, i never had that usb flash drive in that asus laptop though. Thus i didnt have the flash drive on the asus laptop on that day it happneed. So if thats the case, then this couldn't have caused the beeping right?

I also like to mention that both my 2.0 and 3.0 usb flash drives have autorun.inf on it and i read that could be a sign usb flash drive is infected. So im wondering could it be because i plugged a usb flash drive into the sager laptop few days ago which could have a virus in it. However from what i read, the beeping sound is almost always malware. Is this true? Also these beeps are regular beeps when the computer is on... wehther im doing nothing or browsing. Its not the beeps that you get when you start up the computer.

This has gotten me very perplexed. I was going to do a clean resintall of my old asus laptop until i saw my new laptop got this beeping sound.

can you upload the beeping sound on youtube? it can just be default sound settings by windows on different tasks. You can change it Control panel > sound > sound tab > theres a list of actions with different sounds assigned to it.

also i think youre a bit paranoid about tracking cookies. If you get the same advertisement on 2 different computers its probably because the website you go to is sponsored by them. Just get ********* on your browser. Also you can install the "click & clean" extention to delete cookies, viewing history, and other data every time you exit your browser.

Hey so sager ask me if the sound is coming from the speakers and thus if i hear the beeping sound if i muted it.

When i muted it... theres no sound at all. However it does show the volume bar going up every 10 seconds or so. So then i kept speaker on... then kept the volume bar on and sure enough every time it goes up, theres a sound.

This is very strange because my old asus laptop, i had tested this and when it kept beeping... it didn't matter if i muted it... it still beeped. So when i heard this beeping sound, i had figured muting the speakers wouldn't do anything. Strangely enough, theres no beeping with speakers muted.

What does this mean then since i mute it, then theres no sound?

Im not that familar with uploading on youtube. I never done that before. But the beeps are basically like normal beeps. It happens once the computer is doing normal things. THus i dont have these beeps when starting up the computer.

lol i didnt know a/d b/l/o/c/k was censored on here..

and about the beeping sound, is youre cell phone near your computer? it can be the speakers picking up the radio transmission from the cell phone tower to your phone
Questions, questions Quote
11-04-2014 , 06:43 PM
No its not a cell phone near it.

Well the reason why the trackign cookies confuse me was i never had checked amazon or ebay on the new computer until recently. Then when i did, it was items that i searched for with my asus computer... so i had wonder how could that even happen if you know what i mean. Also i wasn't logged into my amazon/ebay accct in my asus... i was in my new computer so that wouldn't make any sense.

I used superantispyware on my 3.0 usb and shows no problems. Howeer with the 2.0 usb... it has 18 threats and 2 of them are pup.delta.toolbar. Does that mean then my usb was infected? Also i transferred same files to the 3.0 usb so thats why i think my new laptop could have virus b/c of this.

Okay so right click and format wipes everything completely including viruses right? If so, that sounds very simple. But are there viruses where you cant delete from usb?

is there reason why i can't delete pup.delta.toolbar superantispyware doesnt seem to allow it.

That is strange if a site like that you mentioned is censored here...
