there are always scammers everywhere. you just have to use your best judgement. i use ebay all the time and never had problems. if the seller has thousands of transactions with a 5 star average rating then its a lot safer than someone with only a couple of transactions with a lower rating. also look at the return policy of the seller.

I just took a look at other seller and this one mention

Buy from a direct Microsoft partner..*Genuine Software"

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-WINDOWS-...item43a838940f

This is pretty much same price compared to if i have xoticpc install it but 3,903 copies have been sold compared to 200 plus with the first seller who sell it for 30 dollars less.

I guess this is b/c lot of these people just wanted to play it safe?

lol if its the same price as xotic just have them install it for you. it will save you time and hassle. The only reason why i would install windows myself is if i was saving a lot of money.

However, i just downloaded the decrap on my asus laptop.

I just want to make sure but when i click on the icon, i just click next right? It says it allows you to restore to freshly installed state by removing all the installed software and non standard start menu and desktop icons.

The thing is when i look at this message, does it mean its going to remove every program i installed myself such as HEM2, poker sites and any other program i have there? Because at first it sound like its just going to remove the asus bloatware etc but from looking at it, it sounds like its going to wipe everything i have in computer?

If so, does that mean i'm only suppose to use this program right after i formatted the laptop when i have nothing installed by myself manually?

you dont want it to remove the important programs. mayb its better if you just remove unwanted programs one by one. i like ccleaner but you can also do it from windows unistall.

Thanks.

Few other questions i have when i receive my new laptop.

1. I'm only going to be using this laptop and not going to use my asus laptop. But is it true some ppl have 2 laptops such as one laptop is only for poker and nothing else? I can imagine someone not using it for downloading stuff etc as there could be viruses. But i can't imagine someone not using it for stuff like web browsing etc right?

2. I have some movie files and music files and other files on my current asus laptop that i want to transfer to the new sager laptop. The thing is most of these files, they are all downloaded online such as old music albums and movies. Its like those sites such as 4shared.com but when i downloaded it on my asus, it did say no virus detected. Is there a chance that there is still a virus or whatever thats there if microsoft essentials doesn't find it when doing those scans? What about music albums that i download there? I have quite a bit of albums i downloaded and then play it on winamp and then transfer it to itunes then put on my iphone etc. The thing is it a bad idea to transfer these files to the new sager laptop b/c it might make it slower or have virus?

3. I will not be planning to download any torrents or any music album or movies online on the new sager laptop. I don't use torrents but i pretty much download it online when i find it on 4shared etc and other similar sites on my asus laptop. Would it be fine if i download all the things i want online, then have it on the asus laptop. Then either put it on a usb drive and or put in on adrive site where you could store things... then transfer it to the sager laptop b/c i dont want to download those files directly on my sager laptop? My thinking is if i do this and my asus that uses essentials detects a virus or whatever, i know few times it would get that message then it won't download. But once i download it then use essentials and spybot to scan those files... are those files then safe?

Thing is i don't want to download anything like that on my sager laptop directly as i want to make sure its perfectly clean from viruses etc.

you just have to use good judgement. dont go to weird sites or click or download anything suspicious. The potentially dangerous files are .exe, .scr, .pif, .com, .bat. Be weary of files with those extentions if you dont know where its coming from.

whenever your downloading files from other people like on 4shared, theres always a chance of downloading malicious files. it depends on how good 4shared security is and how well they can detect it. i used to use it a long time ago but now i just convert youtube songs to mp3 using a converter like this. it converts it in a few seconds and you then you can download it
http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

even if you use your old laptop as a test computer, i would still reformat it before doing it. Everything youve done in the past has been stored on your harddrive.

1. I have a laptop I got just for poker and I haven't downloaded anything other than updates, but I have used it to read and respond to posts on here. I also have a tablet that I got for books and games, but I use it for here too. In fact, I am using it right now.

I had a really old computer desk that i used back then but no longer have it as its very old and we threw it away. It was also incredibly heavy so we threw it away.

I had never heard of an L shape desk until recently and saw a few of these on amazon/walmart and also saw some other desk when searching desk or computer desk.

1. http://www.amazon.com/Walker-Edison-...s=l+shape+desk

2. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Black-Glas...r-Desk/9193530

Questions i have on these desk and which one to get.

1. When i looked at the desks, my initial thought was the l shape desk looked really good. It looks very pleasing and also got lot of good reviews. Has anyone here owned an l shape desk and if so was it like this or was it a wooden l shape desk? The negative thing about this desk seem to be they have that thing for the keyboard for you to put on and people say you can't put a mouse there and only keyboard. Possible to have this on it when setting it up? I had a computer desk a long time ago where it had one of those keyboard things and i hated it. I always preferred to keep the keyboard on the same table surface as the monitor, same with mouse. But would the issue with this desk be its kinda small? The thing is i want to have my keyboard, mouse and monitor on it. I will be having a 20' or 24' monitor on it... and maybe in the future have 2 monitors but at the moment just one. Also i won't be here that much at this home for a while but i like to have a desk here when i come here every on and off. I travel quite a bit from usa to outside usa and most of my time is spent outside usa. Does this table look like its really small where the monitor and your eyes are going to be pretty close? I dont like having my eyes very close to the monitor but it seems like this desk from where i would be sitting at to the monitor would seem very close.

2. Is desk 1 and desk 2 basically the same thing? I guess a personal preference but does anyone know why the black desk seems to get so much good reviews? My initial thought is it would be plain looking and the silver/glass probably looks the best.

3. Anything different with desk 3 from desk 1 or 2? Only thing is its a bit cheaper but doesn't have many reviews as the first 2.

4. Would desk 4 be probably a bad idea? It seems to be just a folding table but some people mention they use it for many things and you could pretty much use it anyway you like. Reason i like this is b/c it seems like you could fold it easily and move it to anywhere around the house without an issue. But are these tables safe for laptops? I read someone mention static or something like that so not sure if that is an issue or not. Also i like this as it seems like when im no longer here, someone here can use this desk to put whatever they want. Could be used for picnic or just putting many things in general. Seems to have quite a bit good of reviews.

5. Is buying either of the 2 last desks probably a bad idea? I personally like the 5th desk much more because it doesn't have that keyboard thing attached to it like the 6th desk. The desk does look pretty small in pictures but for some reason it seems like a good distance from where i would be sitting to the monitor itself compared to the l shaped desks. Desk 6 i really don't like these desk as again they have that keyboard thing.

Yes very long post. Also i like to mention that i don't want a big desk as where isn't that much space to put it so i don't want those big ikea desks. I just want something that is not big, easy to set up and look pretty decent and also where i could put monitor, keyboard, mouse where the table doesn't look cramped up. Thanks.

Eesh. Wall of text. Here goes, though.

1. There's no magic about an L-shaped desk. It's a desk that is an L shape. It's a good thing if you want a desk that's an L shape. Not so much if you don't.

1 (continued). Lots of desks have keyboard trays, of varying types. Yes, some aren't really large enough for a mouse as well. Others are. Matter of personal preference as to whether this will be any good for you.

2. They look like the same thing. Only way to tell for sure might be to make enquiries of the retailers. When it comes to colour, what the hell does it matter what other people think? Choose the one that you like the look of. As far as I can tell they're the same desks.

3. Ask Walmart if it's different, since they sell both. At first glance it looks like it might not have the keyboard tray. I didn't look further.

4. Desk 4 is not a desk. Buy it if you want a folding table. It doesn't really look suitable for use as a desk. Is it even the right height? (I haven't looked - you can check all of these obvious things yourself)

5. Desks 5 and 6 are very small. If you don't want to be close to your screen, I doubt these are the desks for you. You may be able to remove the keyboard trays, you know? Or in fact not fit it in the first place, if these are self-assembly.

Last: Ikea sells small desks too. In fact, at least here in the UK, many of their desks are on the small side.

Pro tips:

A. Work out how big the space is where you want to put your desk. This is your starting point. Don't buy anything bigger than this.

B. From that maximum size, the smaller you go the less comfortable you may be, the less space you'll have, and the less distance you'll have from eye to screen. Where you compromise is up to you.

C. Have a look at some full size desks to work out what depth and height they usually are. If you can't actually go and look at the desks, this will at least give you a guide as to how much you're sacrificing.

D. GO AND LOOK AT SOME DESKS IN A STORE. It sounds as though you've never seen a desk in your life. You need a better frame of reference if you're going to care this much about the details.

Did you use the same cable to connect your monitor to the laptop as to the desktop? It sounds as though you didn't. If so, try again, using the same cable both times. Do you still get different results?

Note to everyone replying to OP's rather needy posts: the quickest route might be just to link to where he's asked them elsewhere.

OP: you got an answer to the laser/optical question in the first response to your thread there. You then said you still didn't know what the answer was.

Sure none of this is a level?

Issue fixed. Reason is because i used a dvi cable and i had to press the button from vga to dvi etc. I never used dvi before so i didn't know this as i always used Vga cable.

Thanks for the response.

Well i don't have that much space where i want to put it. The l shaped desk looks great b/c it doesn't look like it uses up much space and it also looks pretty good.

Would you say the l shape desk would be fine for the distance from the seat to the actual monitor? Would 2 monitors be fine? From looking at ppl who bought it online and the pictures, most of them have 1 computer monitor and i see a few that are 2 monitors but it kind of looks cramped. But that should still be fine right?

Yea i will disregard 5 and 6 as those look very close to the screen.

I seen quite a bit of desks in the stores. The issue is those either don't look very good or they are too big or too small. I haven't seen many desks that look like the 1st link for the l shape desk which is why i ask this.

As for the folding desk, there are pictures of ppl saying they used it for a sewing machine. So i figure if it works for sewing machine and looks good, im not sure why putting a monitior there isn't a bad idea.

Most of the files i download are .exe and open using winrar. Yea i know about the convert youtube to mp3. But reason i download the stuff i do is because you can download the actual album.

Another question but if i put everything on a usb hard drive, would that be the same thing? Thus if a file has a virus on it, then you put it on usb then trasnfer it to new cpu thats the same thing? Is there a way to test if any of those files and songs i downloaded are virus free?
Questions, questions Quote
10-18-2014 , 03:07 PM
mp3 files are mostly safe. they do not carry an executable to harm the computer. you can scan files on the usb by right clicking and scanning it with your anti virus. if youre transferring an executable virus via usb yes you can infect your new computer.

Well those album files i download, almost all of them are exe and i have to use winrar. I know if i download and convert songs from youtube to youtubedownloader, its safe but its not exactly an album if you know what i mean.

But is there a way to find out if any movies i download online that i currently have in my asus laptop or any new ones i download would be virus free? Is there a program where it would scan that file or movie only to see or it isn't possible? Just rea dthat you said scan it with antivirus. Would microsoft essentials or avast work for it? Someone suggeseted buying escan or something like that and its a 1 or 2 year subscription.

Also i got another question. When i purchased the sager laptop, i had the option of removing the branding. That means having no logo at all on my laptop. I didn't bother to do this b/c the picture gallery of the laptop looked fine

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np2740-...su-p-6201.html

But would you say its better to removing the branding, thus no sager logo? I ordered it already but its still in the process so not sure 100 percent if they did this or not.

I read that sager laptops with the logo actually cost more than without the logo if u were to sell it later in the future like on ebay. Does anyone know if thats true or not? Also had this laptop been an alienware or something like that, obviously i would want to remove the branding as i don't want ppl to know its a gaming laptop. I mean im sure many of you dont want to go out in public where you have a gaming laptop and want a nongaming laptop look.

But the logo and design of it in the gallery looked fine so i stayed with it. But do laptops without logos or anything thus plain look worst? I read some ppl mention if theres no branding and it looks clean, it looks either the laptop is very cheap. Or its a customized laptop. I have had many laptops where its a dell or asus and it always has the logo on it... im pretty sure you couldnt remove the logo. But for the sager theres an option. should i bother to remove the sager logo if i couldl still do it? There was no additional cost to remove the branding. I read few ppl mention they prefer it without and wanted the clean look.

lol branding is up to you. some people like it others dont. i have no idea how much it affects the resale value. people who know laptops will already be able to tell its a clevo/sager by just looking at it.. even without the branding.

btw sager is just a rebranded clevo.
Questions, questions Quote
10-18-2014 , 04:34 PM
Yea i know sager is just a rebranded clevo. I spoke to few others and they told me they didn't do the branding. I also saw a poll and 70 ppl voted from a while back and like 50 of them prefer no branding.

One person wanted to change to no branding but when they got the sager laptop, they thought hey it isn't even that bad etc. Thing is every laptop i had had a branding as with dell or asus and i wouldnt want a laptop that say alienware or anything like that if you know what i mean.

The L shape makes no difference to the distance between your seat and the monitor. For that you need to look at the depth of the desk. If you really can't go and look at some examples in a store, then find the depth of the desk you're interested in and then use your monitor and another table at home to work out whether it's a comfortable distance or not. This isn't rocket science, and no-one here can give you a correct answer because it's entirely a matter of personal preference. When you say you don't want to be too close, we have no idea - none whatsoever - of whether you want your eyes to be one, two, three or four feet away from the screen.

Most desks from Walmart are complete ****, go to ikea and get something cheap from there if you have one near you.

Make sure you decide on the width of the desk coming from the wall out, to you and factor that in with your monitor on desk and keyboard space.

More room on desk is what you want and that should be affordable for what you have listed up there as prices.

Have an asus laptop that i will be no longer using after i get my new sager laptop. I have files that are on my current laptop that i save in my documents that include important documents, then you have music files i downloaded and video files. I also have a really old usb kingston flash drive that i bought many years ago thats only 4gb. Currently theres not much space left due to me having the documents, music files and maybe just 1-2 videos. I cannot put much more music album or video like that as there wouldn't be enough space.

Thus all the videos that i have, its pretty much in my laptop only. There are videos that i downloaded and kept and i keep most of it on adrive.com. Someone mentioned thats a site where you could store up to 50gb data. They said if you wanted more, you could create another account as its not a big deal.

When i get my sager laptop, it won't have a dvd drive. So if i want to format it in the future, i cant put the dvd in it. I read here that i would have to download windows 7 64 bit iso file on a usb drive had i wanted to install windows myself but i had xoticpc do it. Well the thing is if i need to format it again, i know i need to have an iso file downloaded on flash drive. I also read that its 3.1gb and since my flash drive is only 4gb... and its smaller than that as you know.

That means im going to have to get another flash drive then right in case i need to format? If so, should i be getting a 16gb or 32gb flash drive? Or is 32gb too much? Thing is i want to have the windows 7 on my flash drive in case something comes up. Also i would need the sager drives downloaded on my usb as well right or could i just download those after i install windows 7 from the iso file on the usb? I assume just get 16gb is more than enough then any music or video/movies, you just keep it on a storage site and upload it to your computer whenever necessary? Issue with this is it isn't as convenient as plugging a usb to a computer though it still will take some time.

I had read most ppl don't need to have big usb drive b/c most don't need it and big ones are actually worst b/c they can be corrupted much easier? USB flash drive are convenient b/c if i want to transfer file from one cpu to another, its easy as you just plug it in. Curious how much gb flash drive most of you all use.
