Re: Questions, questions

I've an old desktop with this motherboard

ASUS P8H67-M LE Rev 3.0, Sockel 1155, mATX, DDR3

I only have 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16

IS there any way around this? I have a second graphics card I'd like to put in. Will I just have to get another MB?

Re: Questions, questions

Are you looking for SLI/Crossfire of 2 matching cards for gaming or just add a second card to drive more monitors?
If for gaming, you need a new motherboard.
If you're looking to just drive more monitors, you can notch out the back of the PCI Express 1x slot, if its not already open, and run the card on a 1 lane connector.
What video cards and PSU are you trying to use? With a typical mATX PC setup, adding a second card may draw too much power and overload your PSU.
There are also a number of low power cards that have a native PCI E 1x slot, if you're open to buying a card to meet the need.

Re: Questions, questions

Thanks for the reply. Just trying to drive more monitors, I've Matrox M9140 installed, and I've a second one if I can find a way to connect it.

I've a Seasonic S12II-430 Bronze, 430 Watt PSU. I can't find the requirements for the Matrox, but it's passive and meant to be low power consumption.

I just need something like this as a connector?

Re: Questions, questions

Your PSU should probably be fine given the passive cooling on your cards indicates fairly low power draw.

Theoretically you can just use an X-Acto knife or rotary tool to carefully cut out the plastic at the back of the 1x slot.

For roughly the price of that adapter, you can buy a native 1x interface card (of course, your local pricing may vary a bit)

Re: Questions, questions

lol 15 tabling in 2018

I assume you're wanting to tile them all, if you're stacking this isn't a question - you can't just look at the resolution (you can get 4k laptops which is retarded) but at the monitor size as well. Or even if you're running multiple monitors, I'd have thought a couple of 24"s with nine per table would work well.

Just noticed Paulys next post will be his 2000th. Would like to congratulate him on making 2000 posts without ever making a single contribution to this forum and asking pointless questions on each and every post.

Well done Pauly its quite a achievement.
