Problem with poker client lagging

Ok so i been having this problem for years and had countless of tilt sessions because of it. Had it on all kinds of different computers.

The Party poker client starts lagging after some time.
If open 14+ tables the lag gonna start after 25 minutes and at about 35 minutes it is unplayable.

If i stick to only 9 tables or so the lag gonna start usually after one, one and a half hour and become unplayable by 2 hours mark.

The problem might be Party client being very old and i also heard it has some bug or memory leak or something like that.

I`ll post my specs and curious if i can upgrade something (the CPU or the ram) to make that ****ing lag go away. Also no clue about it but maybe a CPU with more cache would make it better?

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

People have reported lag on Party over the years (have you read the support threads?) That said I've not seen much recently.

Post a screenshot from Task Manager showing all the processes you're running when it lags (use the "more details" view in the processes tab so we can see a bit of what they're using) and another from the performance tab.

How much free space is there on your SSD and your HDD?

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

There is plenty of space on both ssd and hdd

In the task manager it uses very small amount of cpu and memory both partygaming MFC app and the pgwebrenderer.exe app that open along when i start the client.

I`ll get a screenshot next time i grind but i know for sure that CPU and memory are used only a small%

I also think the client uses only 1 core of the processor and that might be one of the problems.

I am curious if i upgrade the CPU to Intel Core i7-6800K Processor 15M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz (BX80671I76800K) would make it better. Also not using the PC for anything else except poker so would be a pretty bad investment if the lag situation wont`t improve.

This lag i have makes it really unplayable, i click on some table and the action happens on other table because of it and i basically have to restart the software every 30 minutes.

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

So you're not running anything else? HM2/PT4/scripts/PartyCaption/etc?

Even without more information I'd say there's close to zero chance of the CPU upgrade fixing this for you. While the 6800k is an upgrade some benchmarks suggest that in singlecore performance the 3820 is still faster. I don't believe for a second that Party's software is optimised for multiple cores (it's not really even optimised for the 21st century). Colette has hinted they're working on a new platform, I think, so you may need to wait for that. Presumably you have tried reinstalling everything? What happens if you run only one monitor, stacking tables? Does it still happen?

I would say there's pretty much zero chance of Party's software being bottlenecked by your hardware. I haven't run 14+ tables for a while but used to have no trouble on a clocked 2500k with a 560ti, and the software has not really evolved since then.

Short of sucking it up while they produce new software (which, knowing Party, could still be years off) you could try different combinations of AV software, firewall, whatever else you're running, just in case that helps. But it's probably the memory leak (or one of the many?) that they've reportedly had for years. If the machine's only for poker I think you'd be wasting your money on the CPU (and at best flipping for a fluke improvement).

Thanks a lot!
I`ll try upgrading the RAM at least, get the best one motherboard supports and report back.

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

That's unlikely to help either if you're correct that you're getting nowhere near your 16Gb when running Party (indeed I'd be surprised if you were were topping out over 4Gb). Getting faster RAM (you're currently at 1333, right?) probably won't make an ounce of difference.

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

Yep, got the ram to work at 1600 and 0 difference.

With everything open like skype chrome hm2 caption etc the ram load is only at 32% and cpu load doesnt go higher than 15%, this is when the lag is on.

Is it consistently like this? This isn't a problem that is happening because of a lack of CPU or RAM power. There is some kind of memory leak, or something that is saving data and eventually becomes full causing the slow down, maybe it's some background service going haywire.

Go to sysdm.cpl, click advanced tab, then click settings in the Performance area, then click Advanced tab. If under Processor scheduling, programs isn't selected, change the setting to Adjust for best performance of Programs instead of Background services.

I highly doubt that will solve it, worth a shot though.

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

Yep it is constantly for years, was same under windows 8, same under win 10 with all updates.

The problem was reported also in some Russian forums from what i understood.

Tried the best performance thing, nothing happens.

I was hoping there were other people who mass table and were able to fix or had some different setups and worked fine for them(which i strongly doubt)

Tested yesterday at nl2 18 tabling and the lag starts exactly after 25 minutes, its playable for another 10 minutes or so and after that becomes unplayable.

A solution is to force shut down the client and reopen fast but gonna lose the colour markings and also gonna get kicked off from a bunch of tables.

Could it also be a GPU issue? I got the message from the client that due to slow memory or something like that it disabled the cards and chips animation.

Also overclocked my CPU to like 4300 or something like that and **** all happens, still same lag.

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

IS your driver for the GPU up to date?

how is your mouse and keyboard connected to the computer?

What are you using for an internet connection? I'd try a different way of connecting to the internet. If you are already on hardline at home, try a wifi connection through your phone. If you are using wifi, try a cable connection to the internet.

The hardware you have sounds sufficient to run the software unless something else is running in the back ground. Take a look at task manager and see your cpu / ram / hdd / network usage is anything pegging at 100%?

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

Do you reboot your computer before you start a Party session? If not, reboot right before you start playing, and try to minimize applications you have open.

Something else you can try... Go to the same place I told you last post... Go to sysdm.cpl, click advanced tab, then click settings in the Performance area, then click Advanced tab. Under Virtual memory, try changing the Total paging file size to 25000 MB before your next session. Make sure to restart your computer after setting this. If your session lasts longer than normal before becoming unplayable, we can increase that size a bit more as a band-aid solution to the problem.

Edit: I'm assuming you have 25GB free hard disk space to do the above.

You can also try configuring a USB as ReadyBoost as shown in this link
https://techviral.net/how-to-increas...-usb-pendrive/
They give two methods for configuring it. The second method is more simple. Try the first thing I suggested first, don't try both at the same time, keep the tests for each method separate. Also note, the title of that article is bull ****, this is NOT the same as increasing RAM, it is similar, and can help in certain situations, but isn't the same at all as just increasing your RAM. Your problem could be an exact situation where this would actually help though.

I read a little bit more about the Virtual memory, don't set that virtual memory to work on your SSD, set it to your SATA drive. When you go to change it, set the custom size to an Initial size of 12,288 MB & Maximum size to 24,576 MB. Good luck, this seems like the best bet to help you, though most likely it's under 50% to help.

when you have all tables open, hit ctrl alt delete, task manager and see if cpu or ram are being heavily used

Or just press Ctrl+Shift+Escape to go straight to the task manager directly.

Oo nice and snappy, didn't know about that one

loco, if you live in a densely populated building, there's some chance the wifi channels you're using are busy with all the other people close by, now with the lockdown and all. this usually happens if you run the standard configuration of your router, yours and everybody else's are programmed to run the middle of the range channel(s) by default.

That sounds like a problem with the software, perhaps some sort of bug that they have

My preferred way to launch Task Manager is Windows Key+X followed by T.
The Win key + X (or right click on Start Menu icon) is my favorite feature that came with Win8. WinX -> T for Task Manager, WinX -> A for an Admin Console window, WinX -> G to launch Computer Management, WinX -> N for Settings and more.

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

I'm having the same exact issue but with WPN. I'm frustrated because I recently bought an alienware gaming desktop for 2000 bucks...i7 processor, 16 gb ram, fairly expensive videocard, SSD. In retrospect I regret not buying more RAM, but like the OP, when I get enough tables or my session has gone long enough and I start lagging, the memory usage is not even past 50%.

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

Exacly same problem here. I bought new pc due to this, and things got even worse lol. I think party need to make a new soft upgrade, for the new processors out there. Could be because of this but im a noob in informatics.

Im running a last gen i5 ssd 16 gb men. everyting is ok but two hours in gets impossible to grind

Re: Problem with poker client lagging

Im curious if anyone has the same issue now with partypoker? I noticed that when you have at least 10 tables or close to it... cpu spikes... but not only that... after you are done playing... it still cpu spikes high. Sometimes even when you close the partypoker client, it still shows high cpu. It was one of the things in task manager that shows a high percentage but right now i don't recall name of that program.

Does anyone else have this issue? Anyone know what is the name of the process im talking about in the processes about this?
