PC freezing and then blue screen PC freezing and then blue screen

I was moving some files around from a Redkings Microgaming folder the other day and in the middle of the transfer my computer froze and then restarted wit a blue screen.

Now randomly my computer keeps freezing and restarting with the same problem. Once at the windows main screen I get an error box stating the following:

Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS vesrion: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 2057

BBcode: 116
BCP1: FFFFFA8005E2B410
BCP2: FFFFF8800301D45C
BCP3: 000000000000000
BCP4: 000000000000002
OS Version: 6_1_7601
Service Pack: 1_0
Product: 768_1

I looked for updates after looking for help through Google and there was two windows related updates, but after installation they haven't changed anything.

Other than that I haven't got a clue what to do or what went wrong because it started so suddenly whist I was doing something so innocuous as trying to copy and past some Microgaming files to a different folder.

Thanks

Perhaps you moved some important files without noticing? Try to boot in safety mode and see if you can login that way. From a quick search, it seems to be graphic driver related. If you can access via safety mode, try to uninstall your graphic drivers, and then reboot normally. If that succeeds, install the newest graphic drivers and you should be good to go.

Thanks, I think my graphics card is toast because my computer still messes up after a reformat and fresh windows 7 install.

Unfortunately after a quick look this might mean a new pc aslo as my computer is nearly 10 years old meaning any graphics cards sold won't work with my motherboard I think?

I have actually deleted and re installed the graphics card driver as in the past I just downloaded the driver without deleting the old driver first.

So far it has been ok but I wont hold my breathe as I have thought I have fixed it several times over the past week or two with no luck.

If it's just the GPU and the rest of the hardware doesn't really bother you, you can buy a dirt cheap GPU. Afaik, 10 years ago motherboards already had PCI/PCIe, so you should be fine, compatibility wise.

Grab a flashlight, get the motherboard model, post it here or google it, and get enough info to make a purchase if you really think it's the graphics card.

eBay is a great way to get older computer equipment without overpaying.

Thanks, it was a the graphics card as I bought a MSI 1GB geeforce gt 710 for £22 off Amazon but now I get this annoying blip of a black screen and then the "WDDM Timeout Detection and Recovery".

I looked around the internet for a solution which led me to upgrading the GPU drivers and increasing processing time from 2 to 4 then 6 and then 8 seconds but the problem still occurs.

I can play now as the computer works but this randomly happening is so annoying!

Should I just send the GPU back and buy a different cheep one as this never happened once in 9 years with the old GPU. I was thinking of buying

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-NVIDIA...phics+card+2gb

Cheers
