I bought a Dell about a year ago and the monitor stopped working (back light went out maybe) when I went to turn it on for the third time I was planning on using it (used less than 1 hour total) so I contacted Dell support and they said to send it to them as it is under warranty. Long story short they fixed it but sent it to a best buy fulfillment center a few states over to never be seen again. When I called them a few weeks later asking where my laptop was they told me the story and refused to give me a new computer - just a refurbished one.

Cliffs: I just came here to say **** Dell.

I understand that. However, I think dell owes me a new computer and not a refurbished or used one since. Since they gave a lemon and then fixed it and sent it to some other place.

imo it's an unreasonable expectation but would 100% throw a tantrum in your situation just to see if I can freeroll one

Under consumer protection laws in UK/Australia, if a product sold is defective, then the vendor ordinarily has to repair or replace it with an equal product to what the consumer paid for. If the consumer paid for a new product, you should expect them to repair or replace it with a new product, not a lesser, refurbished, standard.
