Hello, I have recently purchased a computer along with 2 monitors. I have no idea how to connect the monitor to the computer. Also, I have no idea to connect the 2 monitors together after that. Below I will list the computer along with the monitors, and the cords I have that won't connect.

Cords

1) HDMI cords that came along with monitors

Checked your monitor link and it supports DisplayPort as well. Looks like you need either 2 DisplayPort cables or 2 DisplayPort to HDMI adapters. Should be able to acquire for $20-30 all in.

These aren't fitting into the DisplayPort slot.
The 2 ports directly under the 2 USB ports on the top part of the back of the computer

Check your cable ends carefully, you said they were HDMI, previously.
Your PC has 2 DisplayPort outputs, those take the connector on the left of this pic. HDMI cables like the connector on the right will need an adapter for this PC.

so funny thing is op says those amazon cables fit in a dedicated Radeon's DP but not in the system's mobo

I wasn't aware there were differently shaped DP options?

Yes, I have both cords, the ones on the left of the pic, and they aren't connecting.
These are the cords just to confirm so you know which one I am talking about. Look at this amazon link if you can to see it.

Sorry, just didn't understand the computer lingo. Think I'm getting what you are saying. So that amazon display port can't fit in the regular hp computer port but can fit in a Radeon brand video card?

when I zoom in, I don't see the keyed part of the cable in the top left, you know the diagonal part that is different. are you 100% sure you're not trying to stick them in the wrong way?

Yeah, I've tried sticking the cable in every possible way. And have tried both ends

ScoobyDoo92,

Can you post photos which clearly show the shape of the end of the cable?

is it me or does it look like the ports on the board not aligned properly with the I/O shield in this pic?

Not perfectly, but this image appears to show him getting through the I/O shield here.

TBH, I think the likely explanations are:
a) the cable is upside down
b) the cable is not a displayport cable

I can't think of any other options here.

Yeah, I know what you mean Ion (and it could turn out to be that) but it looks to me as though the cable is upside down as Josem suggests.

Scooby, give us a picture showing the cable end-on please.

well, op also told me he managed to plug the DP cable into a Radeon HD 7470's DP port, so it looks like the problem's with the case

scooby, should be easy enough to pop the side panel off and check to see if the motherboard is sitting flush with the edge of the case where the ports are

In the pic with the cable partially in the port, the cable is upside down. DisplayPort is an industry standard and any brand of cables will work with the ports on your HP. The corner with a 45 degree instead of 90 degree line needs to be top left as you face the back of the computer.

Rotate so the clipped corner is facing the upper left side of the port on the back of the computer. You may have to wiggle it a bit to get it to line up but it should slot in.

Hello everyone!

Went to microcenter and they were able to solve the problem. The allignment was a little off but he did some fancy stuff, took something off and put it back on, and now the cable fits. Hehehe. Thank you guys for the support! Love yall.
