Is my motherboard sata iii compatible? Is my motherboard sata iii compatible?

I've just purchased a new ssd (on the way), and wanted to check if my computer had any SATA III ports. My mobo is a H97M-G43. Looking at the online specs sheet, it doesn't look like it has sata iii, but would really appreciate if someone (more knowledgable) could confirm either way.

if the computer is sata iii compatible, would i have to purchase a sata iii cable too? thanks

fwiw, the ssd is a crucial mx300 525gb if that makes any difference

looks like your mobo has six SATAIII ports. https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/H97M-G43/Specification

my understanding is that it's possible that your existing SATA cable could be fine to support 6Gbps speeds, or it might not if it only marginally met SATA II standards to begin with. so see if it works at 6Gbps and get a new cable as needed, or just buy a new cable now (they're not expensive).
