that's not your average monitor
it's basically an OLED panel, which can achieve superior contrast to IPS , PLS, VA that you normally find in good monitors and way better than TN, used for budget displays.
OLEDs or in this case QLED are also able to be locally backlit very brightly. imagine you're playing a scenic game and you pan up to look at the sun. that small area can get super bright and blind the **** out of you, just like the sun would in real life
TNs are normally used for gaming because they can achieve higher refresh rates, very important in fast paced games like shooters, but you sacrifice greatly on image quality. this is because the superior panel technologies have difficulties refreshing faster.
so what Samsung did here is incorporate top notch image quality with fast refreshing and very low latency in a big ass 49" curved form factor. it's pretty cool what they managed to do and you're paying a premium for the complete package, this might be one of the only options atm for people who want it all. This is specifically to be used with pc games that fully support this ultra wide resolution and HDR. If you're just using one for poker tho, bit of a waste and def overpaying.
