What monitor setup would be good for general use and multitasking poker. I am novice so I won't be masstabling yet but it would be good to be future proof.

27" 4K seems to be good choice?

But does Hz matter at all?
Is 60hz more than enough or should I invest for 144hz/165hz monitor?

Some people say Hz don't matter and my friend says that he can feel the difference and +100hz is a lot better even without gaming, just in general.

You're playing poker, not COD, Hz is an irrelevancy

I agree with sixfour.

Look at it this way: You can get a 60hz 4k resolution monitor which is 27 inches for price X. If you want to spend extra money, you would be better off buying either a bigger or second screen than spending the extra money on a higher refresh rate.

For the use case that you describe, just buy as many pixels as cheaply as possible.

Samsung has ultra wides that are like 2 2.5 monitors wide for the price of a good 4K monitor, you might look at one of those for more screen real estate. if you have a good computer store in your area you should go look at them, I didn't think much of them till I saw one in a store.

Everything will look very tiny on a 4k - worth mentioning. Maybe 32" 1440p? Personal choice at the end of the day.
