I bought a tv a few months ago
Samsung UE50NU7020
50 inch 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart LED TV TVPlus

I have a Dell windows 10 system

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home
Version 10.0.17763 Build 17763
Microsoft Corporation
System Manufacturer Dell Inc.
Inspiron 3668
x64-based PC
System SKU 0763
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 3000 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date Dell Inc. 1.10.0, 20/09/2018
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB

I have a peculiar issue , the first week i bought the TV i was on my PC and just happened to see the option to project/connect to my TV.
I clicked on it and now i was able to use my TV as basically an extra screen. I was able to cast/mira cast the desktop to the TV and also use my other 2 screens as well so basically now have 3 screens. Which was ideal as im currently doing a course which i can watch training videos on TV while replicating on my other 2 screens scenarios etc

Anyways this worked for maybe 4 days flawlessy. Nothing i know of has changed in my network, neither hardware wise or software based.
I am unaware if a update happened on the PC however as it may have been a week or so after it stopped working maybe two weeks when i began to look into it.

I can still cast files i.e. pictures videos from PC directly to the TV never an issue. I just can't cast the desktop itself.
i have literally spent a couple of weeks whenever i get some time to look into it, multiple posts on forums from other people with very same issue. No fix to be found as far as i can see.

I have completely reset the TV to factory settings using a hard reset and also completely wiped windows and reinstalled fresh copy on PC.

im stumped tbh

has anyone had a similar issue? any one got a fix ?

be very much appreciated.

Should also add when i do click o project/connect (bottom right corner for anyone with windows 10 click on the square action centre)

i see it tries to connect to the TV the TV actually responds as i have to click ok to allow it. I click ok, and it says connecting..............then drops.

Also extra info have completely disabled AV and firewalls on both PC and router.

Also i have tried using wired and wifi connection to do this. Both on same LAN.

I don't have any expert advice to offer here, except to suggest resetting as much as you can on both devices: deleting any remembered "pairing" or similar. Completely switching off the TV at the wall might also work.

I often have miracast problems, and find the technology to be incredibly unreliable and unhelpful in general. I've consistently found it substantially easier and better to just get a long HDMI cable for my efforts. It's cheaper to pay the £20 than to spend hours fiddling with it.

I second the HDMI cable solution.
