I'm looking into getting a mesh network like eero or Google Wifi for my 2 bedroom apartment since my Spectrum internet drops too frequently. Does anyone have experience using mesh networks for poker that can advise on the best option?

Thanks!

This isn't a direct answer to your question, because I haven't used any of the home mesh wi-fi products. But unless your apartment is very large, or has a lot of heavy construction materials (concrete, plaster, etc), then it isn't very likely that you would need mesh Wi-Fi. A single wireless access point or wireless router would probably be fine as long as it can be reasonably centrally located.

Is there a particular reason you're thinking mesh? If your internet service itself drops out, then nothing you buy for inside your apartment will help that.

I think joe12286's post is spot-on.

is it the ISP that dropping the network? can you switch providers? You might have to use a USB modem to connect depends on the area you are in if you can get coverage.

@ManChild: Can you provide more info on the connection drops? Do you just lose WiFi signal in spots, or do you have to reboot the router?
Is Spectrum internet delivered over DOCSIS cable modem? Key indicator for this would be a coax cable input into router/modem combo unit.

If it is your modem/router combo requiring reboots, replacing with a separate modem and router, or disabling router functionality on the combo box and deploying a separate router may allow for greater stability. My long since replaced Asus router required daily reboots when used for WiFi and routing. When I disabled WiFi and added a standalone AP, stability went way up. I've since gone all in on a Ubiquiti setup, but that's overkill for most. Wired backhaul if at all possible is better than mesh for throughput. Mesh setups typically use one of the WiFi radios for backhaul to the master router/ap node. This utilizes a good chunk of the available spectrum. If there are coax outlets near where you want to place APs, MOCA to ethernet adapters are an option for backhaul from AP to router.

@Joe12286: Multiple APs can be needed in an apartment if you want full 5GHz signal coverage. I run two UAP-AC Pros to cover a 940 sq ft apartment reliably with 5GHz. 2.4GHz channels can easily get saturated in an apartment complex. I can see ~75 2.4 GHz SSIDs from my apartment and 2.4GHz throughput is crap. 5GHz is starting to get more crowded, it went from 1 visible 5GHz AP to about 20 over the past 4 years, but I can still get full line rate (250 Mbps) WAN throughput to my laptop.
