When stars is running, my Mac CPU usage is usually around 110% and can get as high as almost 200% if I run it for a while (see screenshot). I've had this issue on a different Mac as well.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I have latest version of stars and Mac OS Mojave running. I have a 2017 MacBook Pro, which is well equipped to handle a 3rd party app like stars.

This is a dumb "feature" of MacOS. Obviously your machine isn't running at over 100% of its CPU's capacity, as that's not possible. What MacOS reports, as I understand it, is 100% = 100% of one core. So if your CPU has four cores, full capacity is actually 400%. For programs that support multiple cores, hyperthreading, etc, >100% CPU usage isn't necessarily problem.

Your post describes the "issue" only in terms of the %. Are you actually experiencing a problem or did you just spot this and think it was weird? If the latter, then it is weird, you're right: Apple's approach is bizarre. But it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your machine or software.

Thanks for your reply. This issue happened on my older Mac (late 2011), and appeared to slow down processing speed after an hour. On my new Mac (2017), it is much faster and mostly unnoticeable, except when I use hotkeys on stars. This seems to make the CPU usage go between 150-200% and slow down game play significantly.

That sounds more like a memory leak than just a load issue. Loads when playing poker should be relatively static; as you add more tables you'll use more processor load, but if you play the same number of tables for a long time it shouldn't get any slower.

There isn't much you can do if that is the case, you can test it out by quitting the app and then restarting it with the same number of tables.

Yeah, it does get slower if I add more tables, and it gets really slow if I use hotkeys in stars...
