Loss of WiFi Connectivity: Simple Hacks Loss of WiFi Connectivity: Simple Hacks

Hi guys,

I keep losing my WiFi connectivity in the evenings.

I mess around with the setup and sooner or later the connectivity comes back.

I am not sure my messing around is bringing the connectivity back or it just does so whilst I am messing around with the set up.

These are the things I try:

1. Disconnecting and reconnecting the WiFi from the desktop icon
2. Physically unplugging the Modem (giving it 30 secs) and re-plugging it
3. Resetting the Modem
4. Unplugging the the cable from the micro filter
5. Unplugging the cable from the master socket (this worked this time!)

Any hacks (I hope I am using the word correctly) I am missing?

Should I give up the 'messing around' and just give it a few hours and hope it will come back on?

Any and all help appreciated.

Many thanks,

Al Mirpuri

what make/model router do you have

what type of service is it? fiber ?dsl?wireless?

have you tried a wireless survey from the router/modem or by using a 3rd party app to see are other devices broadcasting on same channel your wifi is using?

is it just wif that goes ?can a hardwired device remain connected? if not run ipconfig (windows) or ifconfig (mac/linux)

Thank you for this.

Much to think about.

I had some extremely weird things going on with my wifi lately.

A few weeks ago the wifi in the basement was down to 3mbps, while upstairs it was around 15 to 25.

The next day everything was fine and I didn't think much of it.

Tonight, again in the basement the wifi is coming to a crawl. I use a samsung tablet, it's humming along at 30mbps upstairs and only 3 or so downstairs, just like my downstairs PC. But then the tablet, if I walk just outside the room downstairs, goes back up to 30. But that was a fluke I guess, but it keeps fluctuating, but the PC one still remains low.

I messed with the wifi lan card driver, uninstall it, reinstall it. It doesn't work at all now on my PC. So for some reason I unplug it, plug it back into a different USB port and all of a sudden the mbps goes up to 13. However, the tablet is still at 3 in the basement, but super fast upstairs. Makes no sense to me. Any thoughts?

soooo, it looks like it wasnt the roku that was doing it. I reset the modem and that seems to have fixed things.
