My son plays a LOT of Fortnite (but he isn't any good) and wants me to buy this keyboard:
https://www.pccomponentes.com/tempes...rgb-switch-red

Does this look like a good buy or is there anything else in this price category that you can recommend?

that's a generic chinese keyboard, I got one for 15 eur shipped a couple of years ago, minus so much rbg, that's why he prob likes it tho. can't really beat these for value but they're not actually nice.

I suggest you drop a bit more and get him an actually good board
https://www.banggood.com/GamaKay-K87...r_warehouse=ES

go for yellow switch
ships from spain
doubt he needs the numberpad and the extra space on the right means he doesn't hit the side of the keyboard with his mouse anymore. also better for the shoulders, don't have to spread your arms so wide
even more pretty lights
I also suggest you get him a wrist rest for wrist rsi, can find silicone rests for 10 eur

I have a short review on it

Hot swap means you can remove swtiches w/o having to de-solder.
Few advantages here: 1. replace a malfunctioning switch, 2.try out different switches. this will accept both 3 and 5 pin switches, literally anything cherry mx "inspired". 3. easy access to open and lube them up, film them, change the springs etc. 4.easy access to stabilizers, for proper lubing, band aiding or repairing/replacing. this board takes plate mounted stabs.

Esthetics might not be for you with the crazy light show and keycaps are of standard mediocre quality, thin ABS, at least they're doubleshot so the lettering doesn't wear off and the font is alright, none of that gamery nonsense.

Here's what it looks/sounds like after mods. Btw mods are cheap and straight forward to do but they are time consuming. Lube needs to be re-applied once every 2 years or so.

I don't think I can get that keyboard with Spanish layout, including the ñ?

ah spanish layout I forgot

https://www.pccomponentes.com/genesi...gb-switch-rojo

would rather go for this one, Natec has decent stuff, alu body looks nicer, doubleshot caps don't wear out, has a cable gutter
but if he likes the blingy one, get that one, they're all very similar..

idk where else to look for spanish stuff

Nacho

BF picks from maxgaming

https://www.maxgaming.com/en/wired-m...o-gaming-mouse - 20 eur
never had one, shape looks good for fingertip and larger hands, looks well built and Roccat products are in my experience

https://www.maxgaming.com/en/wireles...s-gaming-mouse - 40 eur
cheap for a good wireless mouse

https://www.maxgaming.com/en/wired-m...ng-mouse-black - 40 eur
solid buy, price is good

https://www.maxgaming.com/en/wired-m...ng-mouse-white - 50 eur
my all time favorite mouse and no matter who you ask one of top 3 mice in the world now

as far as comfort goes, I'd say Basilisk over the others

Thanks,

Nice deal on that Basilisk, but I do want a mouse that's wired.

Good to see that Razer is already coming up with BF deals going to wait a couple more days.

I'd get the Kain if I were you and use the rest of the money to get a nice deskpad if you don't already have one

only worth one I see on amazon.de is this one
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Logitech-...A3JWKAKR8XB7XF
similar shape to the Basilisk, nothing special but it's got a nice scroll, it's like a fidget spinner

Haha that's pretty sick.

I think that the Netherlands has quite shitty prices due to shipping. I looked up the kain on amazon NL and it's about the same as on maxgaming with shipping.

I mean 10 eur international shipping is pretty standard.
stuff that fits in an envelope is ~6 eur but any sort of box will be 10+
you don't even get free local shipping a lot anymore now with the pandemic

I've just ordered the Kain Realized that it's actually a really good deal despite shipping.

If I don't like it I can always go for a Rival 3 which has free shipping here and the price seems to stay the same.

Thanks for all your help and patience .

Alright they finally delivered it

It's definetly comfortable and I like the weight on it. The scroll feels good too. The buttons on the side feel a little bit too much pushed to the back, but that might be normal (I don't use them much anyway).

It also comes with a free software package where you can customize the buttons. Overall I'm happy with it so thanks for the help.

Let me know if you need to know something else about the mouse.

A couple of keys of that board are failing. What is the procedure for fixing and/or maintenance?
Keyboard and Mouse Thread Quote
01-27-2021 , 05:12 PM
failing as in how?
they don't register keys or they register more than 1 per press?
Keyboard and Mouse Thread Quote
01-27-2021 , 06:09 PM
also, how many keys are we talking about and are they close to each other?
and did your son spill anything on it?

Failing as in often not registering keys
The are principally W and sometimes A, the ones that are abused 10h/day playing Fortnite
