How to install PostgreSQL on MacOS

Not sure if it's been covered before, I searched (a lot) and didn't find it..
I'm trying to install PT4 on my macbook pro and I need to install PostgreSQL for that
For the life of me I cant seem to figure out how to do it.. there's an installer on their website but there's also something called homebrew that everyone seems to use... I'm confused specially that I need to install an earlier version, not the latest apparently
I would hugely appreciate a step-by-step guide if someone has it..

Homebrew is something you use in terminal
Something like:
brew install mySQL
