How crucial is the windows security update? How crucial is the windows security update?

On a janky laptop. Truly not so bad, but it has ~32 GB of total storage. The security update expires in April, and I guess it's possible to move enough data to an external drive to get the update, as of right now there isn't enough space.

Is there an ideal play in this situation? My technical awareness is still in its infancy. Thanks.

What security update expires in April? What OS version? Windows 7? 10? XP?

you are behind in feature updates. support is ending for the particular windows version you have. it is generally important to always have security updates.

i know that, at least at first, microsoft was not sending the features updates to certain computers if the computers may not have been capable of handling them (old/unsupported hardware, etc). i don't know if there are devices which are ultimately never offered the updates. try searching your computer model and windows 10 1703.

If its a 32 gb emmc drive, you may not even be able to install the update because of the space it takes.

If you have a regular laptop/pc, you can download the windows 10 installation media onto a usb drive.
