Honestly, how harmful is watching porn to your computer/laptop?

I watch a decent amount of porn. However, I also have a firewall (ZoneAlarm) and antivirus and spyware (AVG) along with some other stuff like CCleaner, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, etc. to protect my computer. I have never gotten a virus or really bad spyware/malware/trojan/whatever from watching porn. I don't go to really sketch websites either, and afterwards I clear my private data from Firefox and run CCleaner and I run antivirus/spyware scanning at least once a week.

Does this mean that porn really doesn't harm your computer that much? Does it do other harmful things besides a virus/spyware?

It largely depends on what sites you are going to. Most relatively nasty infections like the zlob trokan or vundo that I see are caused by visiting porn sites and downloading "codecs".

You could be safe, however I recommend watching porn in a VM and even then be very careful.

Porn itself isn't harmful, its the websites code thats can put dialers etc on your computer.

Like you, I don't visit random dumbass sites. I've got a select few that I frequent and thats it and I don't even run any kind of AV or firewall and have never been infected via a porn site.

I think a lot of sites that are part of a "network" police themselves. In order to make consistent money they need to be clean so return traffic is high. If Joe Blow visits site A and gets infected, he's unlikely to ever return to Site A.

I'd recommend using a site like www.youporn.com

All the videos are streaming, click and watch... err im pretty sure its quite safe... ive had zero problems, no popups etc.

No downloads and its preeeeettty much exactly like youtube.

Only porn.

Its quite great

My opinion on the issue.

Watching porn on the computer is a bit like ***** a prostitute.

If you wear a condom, a good condom, (firewall, Anti virus, safe web browser), you'll be ok if you're careful.

If you don't wear a condom, (no firewall, no AV, unsafe web browser) you'll get yourself a nasty case of computer AIDS.
