Okay so I have an alienware M15 laptop. I currently have/use a decade old 24" Samsung monitor in addition to the laptop screen that I got from the full tilt store in 2008 lol. I have a 30" 3007 WFP that's pretty close to as old that I could just get the proper cords for and use, but I think it makes more sense to just get a newer/nicer monitor. Especially since I have a few hundred dollar credit at Dell to use. I'd like to have a lot more space to tile my tables because right now the 24" is fine but too much overlap sometimes.

Above were a couple I quickly came across that seem like good options. Anything in particular I should be considering when choosing a monitor? They all seem so similar yet obv have some differences. I don't care about the cost but I'm also not looking to waste money to get something bigger or better than what I need. Just want something that's good quality and will allow me to fit all my tables with plenty of space.

What's wrong with your 3007 monitor? I have a 3008 monitor, it is outstanding and don't understand why you are looking at getting a new one.

Nothing is wrong with it really. But I have a few hundred dollars of dell credits that have to be used and nothing else that I actually need to spend it on. And although there are no dead pixels on the 3007 I was told by a tech friend something about colors or something fading over time naturally. So getting a new one when it'll be heavily discounted felt like it makes sense.

3007WFP is dual link DVI only so driving it at full res from a laptop is going to be expensive and probably finicky. Normal passive DisplayPort->DVI and HDMI->DVI adapters are single link. You'd need an active DP-dual link DVI adapter or HDMI 2.0 to dual link DVI adapter to drive at 2560x1600. Those used to run around $100, not sure what current availability is. You also need a dual link DVI cable, most cables are only single link. You may still have one from when you used the monitor before.

Moving on to a 32" 4K monitor can be done for around $300, so I'd go with that. I have a PVA Acer 32" 4K I used as a primary for awhile. Colors were less good than my Dell Ultrasharp U2711, but I also paid like half what I paid for the 2711.

If I comprehended that correctly, the first paragraph explains why I was not able to run my 30" at full resolution when I tried to plug it into my laptop?

Will I run into the same issue with the 32" Dell one that I linked above? I have to go with one sold by dell since that's where I have a credit for a few hundred off of the cost.

This is a 4k 32inch option, would prob end up being about $600 after all my credits.

900$ for a friggin 32" monitor...

Price seems to have dropped further and includes some other rebate also so now would be more like $4-500 after all taxes and credits.

Had also been looking at this one which is more like $200 out of pocket after all taxes and credits. Which I assume is cheaper since it's lower resolution/not 4k monitor.

Idk if the 4k monitor is going to actually be helpful in terms of screen space for tables etc or if I should only care about that if I was using it for gaming, which I'm not?

4k helps a lot with tiling tables

QHD is 1440p, 4k is 2160p

seems to be reasonable among the other options on that site... even tho you can get 27" 4k monitors for 250$ on amazon but hey you got credit there and I'm sure it's a nice monitor and all

the 900$ one was just ridiculously expensive, that's prob for image and video professionals, ppl who need super accurate colors and extra features you won't use

Correct the one in my most recent response is the non 4k 32". That one is $460 pre discounts, and then the 4k one I linked right before that and is $800 pre discounts.

Appreciate the link to the 27". I think I prefer the 32" at least whether I go with 4k or not. If I decided to purchase a monitor elsewhere and find something else to use my dell credit on is there a site you recommend/a brand of monitor you recommend to buy from?

there was also a 42" 4k one for 900$ on the dell website, at least you're getting more screen/$ they're pretty big tho, I have a 40" myself, just about wide enough that you can see the whole screen w/o having to move your head left and right. Can tile 20 stars tables on it and still see stacks and bet sizes well so there's that
